The votes are in and final, and here we announce the Players of the Week and Rookies of the Week for Week 10, as well as the Players and Rookies of the Month for December!

East POTW – DeMar DeRozan

And off we kick this week with DeMar DeRozan clainging his first POTW award for the season as he claimed 80% of the 1^st place votes to leave Lebron James in the dust. The Magic went 2-2 this week, and the 2 losses were the games where DDR scored 32 and 39 respectively…dude just wasn’t trying. In the wins he dropped 44 and 43! He compiled averages of 39.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 2 steals and 0.5 blocks while shooting it 53% and was simply unstoppable as he rolled up to the FT line 10 times per game. DeMar was the big offseason boon for the Magic and he’s really shown why this season as the Magic hope to hold onto their star man this coming offseason, all be it for a rumoured $15 million pay increase! West POTW – Derrick Rose

Ok it’s official, hell has frozen over. Oh, no, it’s just that Derrick Rose has claimed POTW! In fairness, DRose has been injured a bit, and the Jazz have been struggling more than originally expected, but he’s finally climbed the mountain on the back of a 4-0 Jazz week, narrowly edging out Gerald Green. He put up averages of 30.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 1 block while shooting it 47% from deep. The Jazz have sorely missed their man at times this season, and coming of a week in which they played him at SG which resulted in a 7 point per game less week than his next worst week, they switched him back to his natural spot and told him to get to work. Derrick is averaging over 31 points on the season and really is the pulse of the Jazz. Congratulations Derrick Rose on POTW for Week 10!

West ROTW – Dangelo Russell

Emmanuel Mudiay is back and starting, but it mattered little this week as Dangelo Russell again completed the West rookie cycle by claiming his 5^th ROTW award for the season, narrowly over Mudiay. He poured in 25.6 points with 4.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.6 blocks while shooting 39% from deep as he continued to roll despite watching players disappear to trade and injury around him as the season progresses. There have been rumours he’s been slacking off in the weight room, which means he’s looking a little weaker as of this week, but there doesn’t really seem to be anything stopping Russell now from consistent playing time and a strong run down the 2^nd half of the season toward being the Wests great hope for Rookie of the Year. Congratulations Dangelo Russell on 5x ROTW!

East ROTW – Kristaps Porzingis

And like Towns last week, Kristaps Porzingis literally had no competition this week on his way to his 5^th ROTW award being the clear stand out East rookie performer. Aaron Harrison was gallant, but he fell well short on votes, and this could be part of the reason he was cut from his team. Yes, it can be a fickle business! Runner up is 1^st loser! :O Anyway, back to Kristaps. He smashed it this week topping 20 points 3 times and only getting slowed down by the Biyombo/Brow combination of the Spurs. He averaged 20.3 points, 11.8 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.8 blocks with only 0.5 turnovers a game, but did struggle from the field for 39% shooting. The big boy is averaging a strong double double on the season and the sky appears to be the limit for Zinga. Could he genuinely combat the West rookie leader in DRuss for the top award? We’re halfway down, and he looks like the biggest rival. Congratulations Kristaps Porzingis on 5x ROTW!
