NLL Insider - POTW and ROTW Week 11 Announced!

by Nenjabin, updated on Wednesday, February 10 2016, 09:27 pm EST

The votes are in and final, and here we announce the Players of the Week and Rookies of the Week for Week 11, as well as the Players and Rookies of the Month for December!

East POTW – Kevin Durant

The East this week had a mountain of guys to choose from, but Kevin Durant rose from the pack to take POTW from a 3 way tie for 2nd between Jamal Crawford, Marc Gasol and Goran Dragic. KD averaged 27 points, 7.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists (season high), 1 steal and 1.3 blocks while shooting 47% and led the Celts to a 3-1 week with the only blemish against the 76ers. Since his return after missing week 1 and them going 0-4, the Celts have only had 8 losses prior to this week with KD in the line-up and he simply leads them in all aspects, gelling the team together. Congratulations Kevin Durant on 2x POTW!

West POTW – Paul George

Choices were lesser out West, and so Paul George took 80% of the 1st place votes to easily claim POTW over Gerald Green. Don’t look now, but the Wolves are rising behind George’s play as they went 4-0 last week prompting their pick owner to start wildly shopping their 1st rounder while they’re still considered “in the lottery”, as they are clearly the big mover after a slow start. George averaged 24.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 2 steals and 1 block while shooting 57% from the floor, 44% from deep and 100% from the line. He in fact hasn’t missed a FT since week 4! Talk about some quiet achievement from PG. He also shot it 58% from deep in week 10, and 75% in week 9! Who the hell knew! Congratulations Paul George on POTW for Week 11!

West ROTW – Emmanuel Mudiay

It’s DRuss’s off week out West, so we have a genuine battle for ROTW. Annnndddd it’s Emmanuel Mudiay! He claimed over 80% of the 1st place votes to win ahead of Stan Johnson and this marks the 3rd time he has won this season as he claimed it twice early on. This week he averaged 14.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1 steal and 1 block with only 1.5 turnovers and did a nice job alongside Jrue Holiday again giving that 2 pronged attack for the Mavs. He helped them down the stretch in the close game against the Kings and while his useage has dropped a bit from earlier in the season, it would seem his efficiency is on the rise. Congratulations Emmanuel Mudiay on 3x ROTW!

East ROTW – Karl-Anthony Towns

For the 1st time this season I thought we had a genuine chance to dethrone the Towns/Porzingis duopoly out East with Marcelo Huertas starting for the Pistons and putting up a better PER and efficiency than Towns. But the Pistons record must have played into the voters minds, and we now have a 6 times ROTW winner in Karl-Anthony Towns who took 60% of the 1st place votes, while Huertas took 40%. Towns had an up and down week, dropping 20 against the Clippers and 24 against the Hornets, but scoring 8, 6 and 6 in the other 3 games to have averages of 12 points, 9.4 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.4 steals and 0.8 blocks. He continues to man the middle for the Bucks, so much so that Jusuf Nurkic still remains on the block and while his consistency needs to improve, he looks every bit the future star. Congratulations Karl-Anthony Towns on 6x ROTW!

Congratulations to the winners in Week 11, and for the month of December, and may the odds be forever in your favour!
