The votes are in and final, and here we announce the Players of the Week
and Rookies of the Week for Week 8, as well as the Players and Rookies of the
Month for December!
East
POTW – Russell Westbrook
For the second time this season Russell Westbrook is the Eastern Player
of the week after he beat out Lebron James by nearly double the points. He led
the Bucks to a 4-0 week which has them firmly sitting at 2nd best
record in the league behind only Cleveland. He averaged 27.3 points, 5
rebounds, 6.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.8 blocks while shooting 46% from the
field and going 31/31 from the line for the week. Westy continues to be the man
for the Bucks, as we all knew he would be, as the youngest team in the league
is now also pushing for top place of the league. Dynasty anyone?
Congratulations Russel Westbrook on 2x POTW!
West POTW
– John Wall
Like the East, the West see a new 2 time POTW winner this week in John
Wall after he beat out Derrick Rose on the preference voting as both had the
same 1st place votes. Also like the Eastern POTW, Wall led his team
to a 4-0 which was a big bounce back for the Nuggets after they went 1-3 the
week before. They’re now sitting 3rd in the West and look to be
holding their own despite the missing Derrick Favors. Wall averaged 23.3
points, 4 rebounds, 9.3 assists, 3 steals and 0.8 blocks while shooting 48% and
committing only 2.3 turnovers a game, which is great while handling the ball so
much! Wall is having a cracker of a year leading the Nuggets and there is no
doubt they wouldn’t be where they are without him. Congratulations John Wall on
2x POTW!
West
ROTW – Dangelo Russell
It’s DRuss week again out West, as he yet again claims POTW while Mudiay
remains sidelined, leaving the West rookie race to 2 (Jahlil and Russell). He
amassed 80% of the 1st place vote, while tripling 2nd
place getter, Tibor Pleiss’ points, and he led the Clippers to a somewhat
unikely 3-1 week. He averaged 21.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals
this week and continues to be the primary west favourite for ROTY, unless
Mudiaty somehow manages to play enough games to convince voters.
Congratulations Dangelo Russell on 4x ROTW!
East
ROTW – Kristaps Porzingis
And it’s
Kristaps Porzingis week out East, as he yet again claims ROTW alternating with
Towns. The voting doesn’t even bare mentioning as he had nearly triple the
points of teammate Myles Turner, and he piled up averages of 18.8 points, 10
rebounds, 1 assist, 1.5 steals and 2.3 blocks in his first week without running
mate Eric Gordon. Not so coincidentally, it’s also the 1st week of
the season in which Cahrlotte haven’t won a game as they went 0-4 despite
Kristaps heroics, and he simply can’t lead the team alone yet with Gordon’s Xfactor
gone. Shumpert and co are trying hard though. Congratulations Kristaps
Porzingis on 4x ROTW!
Congratulations to
the winners in Week 8, and for the month of December, and may the odds be
forever in your favour!
