The votes are in and final, and here we announce the Players of the Week
and Rookies of the Week for Week 9, as well as the Players and Rookies of the
Month for December!
East
POTW – Chris Paul
Wekk 9 was the week of the CP3! Paul took 70% of the 1st place
votes to easily beat out DeMar DeRozan for POTW and he did so leading the Hawks
to a 4-0 week. He averaged 31.5 points, 4 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.3 steals,
while shooting it 51% from the field and 100% from the line on 22 shots. The
Hawks were the big movers as the year closed out last year, and were one of the
favourites to back that performance up and go deep into the playoffs, but
haven’t really hit their stride just yet. Trades have changed the line-up, but
Paul remains a constant and with him capable of putting up these numbers,
they’ll still be a force come the end of the season. Congratulations CP3 on
POTW for week 9!
West POTW
– Reggie Jackson
This weeks POTW is an all point guard affair as Reggie Jackson claimed
70% of the 1st place votes to take West POTW over Paul George. The
Spurs have come alive of late and while Reggie isn’t the #1 reason why that is,
he has been a the stalwart through the season that have been producing week in
and week out, waiting for some help. He averaged 22.3 points, 3 rebounds, 5.3
assists, 2.5 steals and 0.8 blocks, while shooting 48% and 42% from deep this
week, helping the Spurs go 3-1 and continue to push up into the playoffs.
Reggie signed a massive extension in the offseason, and he’s living up to every
bit of it so far. Congratulations Reggie Jackson of POTW for Week 9!
West
ROTW – Jahlil Okafor
Jahlil took 66% of the 1st place votes to spoil the return of
Emmanual Mudiay and claim another POTW award this week. His averaged were down
in a bench role playing 19.5 minutes, averaging 9.3 points, 7 rebounds, 0.8
assists on 58% shooting and 100% FT, but the Pelicans finally got off the snide
and went on a 3-1 week, and perhaps Jahlil accepting this role off the bench
was a big part of that? He’s had better weeks, but the rookie keeps going strong.
Congratulations Jahlil Okafor on ROTW x3!
East
ROTW – Karl-Anthony Towns
Out
East there just in no real rookie competition to be had, and Karl-Anthony Towns
claims his 5th ROTW award this week over Raul Neto. He averaged 11.4
points, 12.6 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.8 steals, 0.8 blocks and shot 51% from
the field, but the Bucks struggled a little this week going 2-3 including
unexpected losses to the Bulls and Hornets. They’ll bounce back, and KATs
minutes will drop back to normal this week with the return of veteran Marcin
Gortat to the bench, but these young Bucks are making noise. Congratulations
Karl-Anthony Towns on ROTW x5!
Congratulations to the
winners in Week 9, and for the month of December, and may the odds be forever
in your favour!
