NLL Insider - Cavs Bos

by Rootsey, updated on Thursday, May 26 2016, 04:34 pm EST

This is the series that keeps on giving. Where others series have wrapped up nice and neat, Cavs v Bos just keeps going. Will it end tonight or will it go the distance? The last two games have gone to the home team, the previous three were all over the place.

I started writing this series under the impression that the same story lines would come back time and again, Lebron wins a game, Durant wins a game, back and forth we would go. While Durant has been a top scorer for his team all series, Lebron has slipped to second banana more times than not with Parker and T Ross stepping up and carrying the scoring load on occasion.

So what does that mean going forward. I have no idea.

Then the next thing I expected, close game after close game was going to come and go, and the first two games went that way with both going to overtime. Then the games started breaking apart. 9 Point game, 15, then 13 points.

So what does that mean going forward. I have no idea.

Then we have two of the key statistics I look at to determine who wins games and why. Points in the Paint, and who wins the rebounding battle. We've seen the winner of each game sometimes come out ahead and sometimes not. We've seen both teams lead in both categories at the end of games, so neither team is making a defined mark on the stat board.

So what does that mean going forward. I have no idea.

Then we've got more stats that I love to look at that seem to have no bearing on the outcome of the game. Field goal % and Expected Win %. We've seen the poorer shooting team win only once out of the 5 games, but both teams have shot well and shot poorly all series. As for the expected wins, neither losing team has exceeded an expected win of 0.25. Considering how close the series is, it surprising.

So what does that mean going forward. I have no idea.

Actually I know what it means. When you've got really evenly matched teams, sometimes all you need is a bit of luck.

So to both teams. Good Luck.
