NLL Insider - Denver seizes home court advantage

by djdrew, updated on Sunday, May 22 2016, 02:36 am EST

In Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals, Denver had a statement game at home, pulling away late to win 117-112 over the suddenly reeling Dallas Mavericks.

Denver was undoubtedly led by John Wall, cashing in 37 points and 8 assists to lead all scorers. Danny Green tried to be the answer for Dallas but ultimately fell a little bit short.  While Dallas dominated second chance points and bench scoring, it's hard to match a team that finished the game shooting 52% from the field.

After catching up with GM Rootsey, we asked him about how he was feeling about the series thus far. He had this to say: "Dallas has pushed us to try something that we hadn't done all season, it seems to be working so far, just hoping it stays that way. John Wall has ben phenomenal for us as expected, but it's been a nice showing by Alex Len that has us really pleased so far this series against one of the best centers in the league."

On the contrary, GM Smokey seems to feel a bit of quiet confidence, feeling comfortable with the abilities of his squad: "We always knew the Nuggets were going to be tough. We just need to stick to everything we did well through the season and be more aggressive on the boards."

Moving forward for both teams, Game 4 will be a pivotal one as Dallas likely can't afford to let Denver go up 3-1, although with the quality of these two teams, one could imagine even if that happens-- as this series stil has the potential to go the distance.
