NLL Insider - Denver puts the series on the brink by djdrew, updated on Tuesday, May 24 2016, 04:53 am EST Game
4 saw the Nuggets storm to a blowout over the suddenly reeling Dallas
Mavericks 116-85, making the series teeter on the brink of a done deal.
In a game where every Nugget got on the score sheet, there wasn't much
the Mavericks could do to slow them down.
John
Wall yet again led all scorers with 24 points, 7 assists and 5 boards,
while J.J. Redick , Otto Porter, and Derrick Favors all reached double
digits. The Nuggets outshot the Mavericks 49% to a paltry 36% and this
game was never really as "close" as the score indicated.
Leading
the way in a losing effort was a strong performance by the rookie
Emmanuel Mudiay, while the German sensation Dirk Nowitzki was
essentially shut out for the night, going 2-12 and only scoring 4
points. Not too much to feel good about on the stat sheet when you get
blown out like that.
While
Denver winning and advancing would make for a technical upset, these
two teams are evenly matched on paper and this shows by the general
consensus prior to the series showing most expected Dallas to pull out a
6 or 7 game victory. GM Rootsey has made the proper adjustments and put
his team in position, and has to feel good about the changes he made
after the Game 1 loss in Dallas.
Moving
forward, Game 5 luckily sees Dallas limp home after a brutal trip to
Denver. Can the Mavericks stave off elimination and make this a series,
or will Denver continue it's mile-high momentum into the Western
Conference finals? We'll see soon as tip off is only mere hours away!
