DRuss
got off to a flier in the opening weeks of the season and never really looked
back. Pundits thought it was his award to lose for most of the year, and
Kristaps Porzingis really did his part to make the award at least look like a
battle, with 1/3 of voters actually even preferring him as the award winner
holding his own as a star for the now and the future in Charlotte, but in the
end, Russell claimed the award he was seemingly destined to win!
Russell
put up averages of 22.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.7
blocks on 44% shooting including 2.5 makes a game from deep on 36%. He played
and started all 82 games in the season and shuffled around in different
positions for the Clippers as they needed like a seasoned pro. The Clippers
invested heavily in getting Russell to town, and for now the gamble looks like
it has well and truly paid off.
He’ll
be back next year to look to build on his stellar start to his career!
Congratulations DAngelo
Russell, NLL’s 2015/16 Rookie of the Year!
