NLL Insider - On the brink

by dazman32, updated on Monday, May 23 2016, 01:30 pm EST

Game four was another good one, after a tight first quarter, the Knicks were able to build an 8 point lead heading into half time.

However a huge third quarter saw the Sixers take a 6 point lead heading into the fourth, this lead proved a little too much to overcome for the Knicks, as the Sixers would hold them off for an 8 point win. The final score was 120-112

Kawhi Leonard and James Harden went at each other on both ends in an enthralling matchup. Leonards aggressiveness saw Harden sitting early with foul trouble, which forced some offense out of Dwight Howard, who had 23 points and 15 boards.

Leonard would finish with 26 to Hardens 32, certainly a win for the Sixers, they also shot the ball better from deep, 50% against 33% and again won the rebound battle, 53-43.

Lillard lead the scoring for Philly with 31, and 27 free throws helped them take some pace out of the game and remain in control down the stretch.

Let’s see what the GM’s had to say post game:

First up VT

Q: A huge third quarter got you guys back in this one, what was said at half time?

VT: We just talked about ways to improve. CJ was taking too many wild shots and LaMarcus was on the ropes with foul trouble. We talked about stuff like that.

Q: Kawhi Leonard did a good job attacking Harden on the offensive end, was this a strategy?

VT: Yeah, we wanted to get Kawhi more involved today. He played really aggressive, didn't he?

Q: What do you need to do in order to close this series out in Philly?

VT: We need to win the next game.

Now Dunadan

Q: You had a nice lead heading into the second half, what went wrong?

Dunadan : The Sixers went hot. They had three guys, who made shot after shot. We had no answer. The first half showed that we are more than James Harden. He barely played with his three quick fouls and we still put up 60 points. Then when he returned we no longer played in sync like Philly did. We still don't have an answer for Lamarcus. He finished two quarters with fade-away mid-range jumpers, leaving us no time to answer. Those four points turned out to be the key to the Sixers win.

Q: This game appeared to be won and lost at the three point line tonight, does the green light remain for game 5?

Dunadan: That's part of our game. Drives, drawing foul shots and shooting threes. If they don't fall we're screwed. But yes, the green light remains. Philly generated the better looks from downtown yesterday. Lillard was always wide open on his numerous threes. But we missed some open shots too. Dudley missed a late one that would have made it a one point game.

Q: Now down 3-1 and facing elimination, what must this team do to extend this series?

Dunadan: Stay the course. The Sixers are clearly on a roll, but we love elimination games and I strongly believe that we can bring the series back to MSG.

Thanks to both GM’s for participating in the post game media conference.

This loss for the Knicks now puts them on the brink of elimination, down 3-1, they must win them all from here on out to advance. For the Sixers, just one more win will see them earn a trip to their third straight Eastern Conference finals

It's all on the line in game five.

Tune in for game five, Tuesday at 3:00pm NLL time.
