NLL Insider - Game 3 BOS v CAV by Rootsey, updated on Monday, May 23 2016, 01:29 pm EST Game
3 looked a lot like game 2, with Durant leading his team to victory
with 29 points and 9 boards against the Cleveland Lebrons. Lebron
himself had another slow game scoring only 17 points on 7/19 shooting. Durant
was supported primarily by his front court both in points and rebounds,
with Vucevic scoring 19 points and Horford adding 14, with both in
double figures rebounds. But the support didn't end there for the
Celtics leader. Game 3 bucked the trend with the Celtics 6 through 10
winning the game, with each of the bench ending the game in positive
plus/minus territory, where only Vuc and Ariza skipped into the positive
for the starters. Al-Farouq Aminu lead the bench had his best game from
the bench of the playoffs so far, scoring in double figures and leading
his team towards winning the bench points battle. Beasley as the late
season signing for the Celtics also proved his worth with 8 rebounds and
leading the team in plus/minus, but both those stats were really only
making up for his poor shooting. The Lebrons on the other hand
still supported their leader, but no one stepped out like Tony Parker
had done in game 2. Terrence Ross bounced back from his poor game two
with 23 points and is showing that he isn't there to just make up the
numbers. Ibaka also had a better game, getting on the boards and
shooting really well from the field. The game did come down to
who won the rebound battle with the Celtics getting 51-46 victory in
that field. The stat that usually shows who the winner is, Points in the
Paint went the way of the Cavs. This should be expected due to the
Lebron and Parker influence, but it didn't matter in the end. Boston
also turned the table on the shooting percentages winning while only
shooting 42% against the superior Cavs 46% field goal rating. The
telling stat for game 3 comes down to the foul count. The referees
limited Andre Drummonds effectiveness by limiting his minutes to only 25
in the game. Whether the Celtics can expect the same result in game 4
is unknown. Bring on the series leveller or not?!?
