The votes are in and final, and here we announce the Players of the Week
and Rookies of the Week for Week 7!
East –
Kevin Durant
The Celtics went 4-0 in Week 7…so they traded out their entire team bar
one man, and here he is. KD earns another POTW award! With over half the 1st
place votes he beat out Melo. He shot a season high 58% on his way to 26
points, 7.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1 steal and 1.3 blocks just willing his team
to a winning week. He’s nigh on untradeable in Boston, and understandably so as
he is the pulse, the heart of the Celtics. Congratulations Kevin Durant on 2x
POTW!
West –
Andrew Wiggins
This week Anthony Davis was beaten out by the young gun, Andrew Wiggins
as the Jazz went 3-1 behind their prized former #1 pick. Wiggins had 60% of the
1st place votes and it’s easy to see why. He poured in a season high
37 points, followed by a new season high 40 points on his way to average 32.5
points, 3 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1 steal and a season high 50% from the field
including 56% from deep. The kid looked like KD out there this week! The Jazz
need this to continue as they cling to 8th spot in the West on a
sub-.500 record. Congratulations Andrew Wiggins on POTW!
West
Rookie – Marquese Chriss
He’s here again! The Memphis big man beat out Joel Embiid with 60% of the
1st place votes to claim his 2nd ROTW award. He put up 15
points, 7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.8 blocks while shooting it
66% from the field and 71% from deep sporting a new look outside jumper! The
Grizz have been pushing hard for Chriss’ recognition and he’s been turning
heads after being their prized draft pick at #4. Congratulations Marquese
Chriss on 2X ROTW!
East
Rookie – Kris Dunn
The battle in the East
was the closest run thing you could hope for with Kris Dunn pipping Kyle
Wiltjer for the award by 1 point, as he had 1 more 1st place vote!
It does not get closer than that! Dunn had a really up and down week going for
9 points, then 21, then 7, then 21 again, but it equates to averages of 14.5
points, 2.8 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.8 steals and 1 block with 50% shooting
from deep. He did struggle a little from the field at 40%, but who can blame
the rookie who has been thrown into the limelight of the Toronto future! He’s
their man, and they might live or die by Dunn. Congratulations Kris Dunn on 2x
ROTW!
Congratulations
to the winners in Week 7, and may the odds be forever in your favour!
