NLL Insider - Interview: GM Pistolpk of the Cavsby Rootsey, updated on Monday, April 25 2016, 02:18 pm EST [Transcript from my imaginary NLL Radio show] Host:
Welcome listeners to your favorite NLL based radio interview show, Ball
Don't Lie, I'm your host Phineas Q Ballterscotch. Tonight we have with
us a special guest who will discuss with us a few burning questions that
have been floating around the league since he joined. Let me introduce
you to the Cleveland Cavaliers GM pistolpk. Welcome pistol, do you mind
if I call you that? pistolpk: No that's fine, thanks for having me on, I'm looking forward to talking about my team. Ballterscotch:
Great, thanks again for coming on. Now I'll start you off with an easy
question. How would you grade yourself since taking the helm of the
franchise? Why? pistolpk:
About a C, pretty ordinary. Been talking with the coaching staff, and
we seem to win mainly against the non play-off bound teams. Excited
about the team that has been put together but so far haven't been able
to live up to expectation. Ballterscotch:
Starting in the league can be tough, and as you mentioned expectations
were pretty high after the teams success earlier in the year. Now you
joined the team just as the trade deadline expired, if you had the
chance to trade this year, what trade would you have tried to make
happen? pistolpk:
Depth, would love a go to guy off the bench. I love our guys who fill
our spots but we need some consistancy from our 6th, 7th, 8th guys. Ballterscotch:
Seems the previous GM had the same idea, as the Lance Stephenson trade
in the earlier part of the year was thought by some to be that depth
piece that was missing. Unfortunately for the team and Lance it didn't
play out that way. You've had a 13-7 (0.650) record since week 16 and
were 44-18 (.710) before that? What do you see as the reason for the
slip? Opponent strength? Ratings update? Injuries? pistolpk:
We had strong opponents, no denying that, and we haven't used a
consistent line-up yet, trying different Playbooks and Profiles was
always going to end with mixed results. Ballterscotch: You won your most recent game in Miami, do you expect a 4-0 sweep or do you think they might steal a game? pistolpk:
Miami are strong, they just won against the Lakers in there last
match-up of the year. Would love a sweep but expect it to be tight
contest and would be disappointed if I don't win at least 4-2. Ballterscotch:
Well it doesn't seem the league has your confidence. In the GM survey,
Miami has been predicted to beat you by two thirds of the GM's. Why do
you think a 6th seed has the backing of the crowd? pistolpk:
Based on the mixed results over the last 4 weeks, I can understand
that. Its about peaking at the right time and Miami seem to be doing
that. I have full confidence in my team and Play-offs is when Champions
shine. Ballterscotch: Who is your teams MVP, LVP (Least Valuable Player), and most surprising player? pistolpk:
Lebron is the MVP. LVP would be Kendrick Perkins, he is a leader in the
locker room. Ish Smith has been incredible off the bench. Ballterscotch: One final question before we go, who do you think is going to be the XFactor in the series? pistolpk: If Lebron wants to win this series, he will win it. Its his time to shine. Ballterscotch:
Well that's all we have time for today folks, thank you to pistol for
spending some time with us. I wish you the best of luck sir, but I have
to be honest and say I'm sitting with the majority at this stage. I hope
for you that I'm wrong. Thank you all for listening, I'll be back later
in the week with a chat I've had with pistols' opposite number for the
Miami Heat, proid. Till next time, remember folks, ball don't lie. [end broadcast] |
