NLL Insider - Team by Team: Miami Heatby sheed36, updated on Tuesday, October 02 2018, 05:05 pm EST
Season Highlight: Sins of our fathers With the rise of the
new season Miami Heat had an amazing start, taking advantage of their big
Mozgov and the only able to score guard at that moment JJ Redick. Their first
week were almost perfect 3-1, beating teams like New York, Los Angeles Lakers
and Indiana only losing to New Orleans… for some reason. On the second week
they repeat the record winning three games and losing one to the Pistons. After
four weeks they were 10 - 6 giving a surprising bright horizon for the
supporters. Season Lowlight: And so we finally had some small tweaks in our
patch and center became less dominant sending Mozgov back to the ground…. Not
really. However Miami had to slow down and eventually giving up the chance to
fight for the Playoffs. On week 6 they lost easy games against Wizards, Blazers
and Hawks and fans were already cool down their hype. Best Trade: Miami is not so trade active like Detroit
Pistons but they did some interesting deals last season. The Boston Celtics send Justin Jackson to the
Oklahoma City Thunder. The Miami Heat send Eric Moreland to the
Oklahoma City Thunder. The Oklahoma City Thunder send Michael Beasley,
Jevon Carter and Khyri Thomas to the Miami Heat. The Oklahoma City Thunder send a 2nd-Rounder
(LAC) to the Miami Heat. Good value for Eric
Moreland which end up renounced by the Thunder. New blood Thomas and Carter
will dispute the backup point guard position. Carter is a good scorer, he had
huge games in NBA Summer League. A future second is also welcome to build a
solid bench Worst Trade: The Boston Celtics send Derrick Favors, Avery
Bradley and Lucas Nogueira to the Miami Heat. The Miami Heat send Devin Harris, Channing
Frye, Dwight Powell and Kyle Kuzma to the Boston Celtics. The Miami Heat send a 2nd-Rounder (Sac) to the
Boston Celtics. Actually not a bad
trade but a risky one. Miami Heat sent away their best prospect Kyle Kuzma, 1
young role player, 2 veterans and one second round pick for 3 players on their
last year contract and one first round pick for this season. Destiny smiles at
the Heat and these three guys are probably returning this season but with Heat
bad record it is possible the franchise have to spend some gm points to make
sure.
Other Notable
Trades: The Boston Celtics send Trevor Ariza and
Derrick Jones Jr. to the Detroit Pistons. The Detroit Pistons send Derrick Favors to the
Boston Celtics. The
Detroit Pistons send Bryn Forbes to the Miami Heat. The Miami Heat use
their trade exception over $ 1,312,611. The Detroit Pistons
receive 15 GM points. The Miami Heat trade -15 GM points. An ok deal for Bryn
Forbes. Good backup point guard for 15 gm points. Forbes will be a restricted
free agent this season with a chance to become starter. The Oklahoma City Thunder send Tomas
Satoransky to the Miami Heat. The Miami Heat send a 2nd-Rounder (Mia) to the
Oklahoma City Thunder. Another trade with
Thunder and Miami seems to be Oklahoma’s GLeague team. However Tomas is a great
player for Miami. Tomas could play on 3 positions. Oklahoma will probably draft
this pick and send again to Miami in 2020.
Free Agency: Miami had a lot of
room last season to fill. JJ Redick was by far their best sign. Huge money but
he had an incredible season with 19 points per game and one of the best three
point shooters of the league. The only shooting guard in the league actually
shooting btw. Heat also got Biyombo
for 2 seasons and 17 millions. He had some good games but not great as others
centers in the league. Star: JJ Redick: Signed in November, JJ makes Heat’s money worth
leading the team in score for the most part of the season. The lack of help on
offensive end from inside as big men were last season was the reason why the
Heat couldn’t stay between top 8 in the East. Goat: Bismarck Biyombo: He could become another 20-10 center in this
league but for some reason he was just another center. Now as the magic wear
off Biyombo won’t see any chance to worth Heat’s money as JJ did. Draft Grades (from
Insider): Bad news. The only
rookies this season came from Eric Moreland deal. Carter and Thomas, both
guards will help backcourt bench and will come this year. Upcoming Free Agents: Heat have only 5 players on contract and some big names to re-sign most
of them came from Boston deal. Miami has 39% win rate which gives it a 11%
penalty on re-sign players Derrick Favors: Returns if gm Breece
spends some gm points Micheal Beasley: Won’t return not even a small chance. JJ Reddick: Another one returning and yes for some gm
points Avery Bradley: 20 more gm points and
he is back Lucas Nogueira: Fuenlabrada signed him last week, won’t come back Bryn Forbes- A restricted free agent, which means
not leaving. Dorian
Finney-Smith: Good chances to return next year. The Future- Good news: Proid's legacy is gone and the Heat finally has
their own pick. Once a veteran team made to win now, as they did actually going
to the Playoffs in past, is a broken squad with a lot of expiring contracts and
non-long term young players to focus on. It's time to finally
get rid of previous owner sins and build around these future picks or even
trade veterans for more if possible. Players like Favors and Bradley if return
can be a good exchange good for more picks. Either way Miami is in
good hands and could be a surprise nobody expect in this season even with the
team they have now. |
