Wade-ing into new waters?

Atlanta, GA - recently hired Hawks GM Frahminator sat down with star FA Dwayne Wade to discuss any remote possibilities of retaining the star shooting guard. The talks were said to be cordial on both sides of the table, but the feeling coming out of the meeting was that Dwayne would be donning a new uniform next season.

Wade has spent the last two seasons with Atlanta, putting up 26.3 PPG over 128 games with the organization. The guard is only 617 points shy of 20,000 points in the league, and last year reached 2000 career points in the NLL playoffs. Dwayne has earned “Eastern Conference Player Of The Week” ten times in his career, with three different teams. He’s been an All-Star three times, All-League Second Team once and All-League First Team once.

"We had a very honest conversation about his future with the organization. Mr. Wade was very forthcoming about his desire to pursue other opportunities in the league. His contributions to the Hawks, not just in terms of on-the-court performance, are much appreciated and acknowledged. We'd love to retain his services, but Dwayne and his agent are quite certain that his next home will take him beyond the Peach State."

The seemingly inevitable departure of Wade puts the spotlight on Atlanta’s stable of rookie draft picks. Both Denzel Valentine and Malik Beasley are likely to get time at shooting guard. “We’re quite happy with the draft class from 2016 as we look to our future”, says Frahminator. “Denzel’s recent ankle injury is a small setback to his development, but his maturity and experience will go a long way towards his development into the player we believe he can be.”

Wade was unreachable for comment, as he is currently on a business trip in Europe for one of his footwear sponsorships.
