Goodbye and Welcome
Goodbye and Welcome
The Miami Heat are in a better position than many could have
even thought in the current season. Still sitting in the top 8 in the East and
continuing to find wins with a tight group of teams searching for victories.
Each working hard in an attempt to sneak into the top 8.
GM Breece made his first big move in the trade market this
week. During a time that some have dubbed the Trade Frenzy. The GM was busy
making moves to benefit the team going forward. Sadly for the Miami faithful it
also coincided with the departures of Devin
Harris, Channing Frye, Dwight Powell and rookie superstar Kyle ‘Kuz’ Kuzma to Boston. Off the back
of a Rookie of the Week award, Kuzma will now play in a Celtics jersey and GM
Breece looks forward to seeing the
development and career of the young man. The youngster has become a fan-favourite, from his preseason performances all the way up to his starting five contributions and two ROW awards. He will be missed.
The departure of the four players
comes as the Miami Heat look to keep themselves afloat in the East and develop
a roster with longevity and talent.
Though with heavy hearts the Heat have sent off the four,
the organization is happy to welcome Avery Bradley, Derrick Favors and Lucas
Nogueira in return. With the news of the trio joining, sales of jerseys have
gone gangbusters. Not since the days of Rudy Gay in a Heat jersey has the organization
seen such figures. While the contracts of Bradley and Favors will be a hot
topic for the team during the off-season, the GM is confident that both will
remain in a Heat jersey.
Without further ado, let’s take a look at the incoming Miami
Heat members.
PLAYERS IN FOCUS

AVERY BRADLEY

Avery Bradley comes into the team and brings with him a
briefcase of tricks and a Basketball IQ to turn things around in the Heat
gameplay. Bradley will likely replace the outgoing Devin Harris in the PG
positon, collaborating with JJ Redick. Harris has produced some huge numbers
for team and will be dearly missed but GM Breece believes that Bradley can play
the team ball and also add some points himself. Many believe the best of
Bradley is to come in the NLL and the Heat will be hoping that they are 100%
correct as they look toward the future. The contributions of Bradley will need
to be up to scratch as Harris is a big reason that the team is ranked 5th for assists, while his scoring ability
could lead to a change in points with the team ranked 24th.
2. DERRICK FAVORS

Derrick Favors is exactly what the Heat have needed in the
team but haven’t had. Favors will likely play the PF/C rotation spot with
Bismack Biyombo. Biyombo has been a formidable presence for the team, but has
been holding up the defensive end almost singlehandedly. Frye has been able to
supply in the scoring department but they have missed a dominant presence in
tandem. ‘Favors is a massive addition to
the organization and one that we hope will positively affect our results
against the stronger teams in the NLL’ said GM Breece in the most recent
press conference. His near double-double
status on points and board will come in handy for the team, as the team currently
ranks 22nd for rebounds.
3. LUCAS NOGUEIRA

Lucas Nogueira has all the hallmarks of a centre for the
future. The 25 year old centre is waiting to take the next step and with the
right moves we could see Nogueira leading the charge at Miami. With limited
minutes he has been able to produce well as the secondary. But with Biyombo,
Mozgov and Favors this could mean for further limitations. GM Breece is excited
by the potential of the youngster and watch this space regarding the next step
for the Heat roster.
The Heat will also have a coin to throw in the upcoming draft as well which is
a positive for the team as they look to revitalize the lineup with a mix of old
and new to produce a balanced team roster. The team have secured the first
round pick from the Milwaukee Bucks for 2018. The Heat will watch on through
the week to see how the four departing players leave their mark with a
rapturous response from the crowd in the team’s most recent performance against
Orlando – in which the team played awful and lost by 25 (115-90). The faithful
will have one last opportunity to see the four play in a big game at home
against Houston.
