Rumor “Jazz” it!

Rumor “Jazz” it!

As I’ve embarked on a journey behind the curtain, I have seen and heard things on the reigning Northwest Division Champs Utah Jazz that I’d like to share with you, the fans.

On a current quick conference after practice, when asked about the trade front and if Utah had closed up shop for the season, the GM of the Jazz stated: “Definitely not, the trade phones are OPEN in Utah, despite the league being in hibernation mode, it doesn’t matter to us. In fact, I don’t think I remember ever being that active on the trade front since the 2013 NLL Draft when we shuffled up and down the board and ended up with Victor Oladipo and C.J. McCollum in the end, but I digress.”.

That is awesome news if you ask me, and Merencio has always been a GM that likes to shake things up, right?

While I don’t have any info on any done deals, the GM was a bit evasive when addressing this topic: “I’m not authorized to comment or reveal any details of the negotiations. What I will say is the Jazz are in hard pursuit of their Center of the future, a player that embodies the strategy we’re trying to put in place here. We have a couple of deals that are agreed to terms, one being the James Mcadoo and Cash considerations for Orlando for the their second rounder. Another deal agreed to terms is one regarding a backup Center. Lastly we are in talks about cutting cap and acquiring youth in the process. Although we might lose veteran presences, by oxygenating the roster and with the evolution of our main guys, we should be able to close that gap. What I can say is that at least 2 fan favorites look like they will be parting with us through trades.”.

That is actually a little said to hear, but it is looking like Devin Harris and Chris Birdman are really on their way out. While we do love them, we have to remember that this is a business and we have to trust that management will look for the best interests of the club.

 â€˜Till then, #JazzNation
