Moving on up.

2021 NBA Draft | NBA.com The draft lottery Came and went, with the Utah Jazz landing the 8th overall pick. While many within the franchise were hoping to land a bit higher, having the 6th best odds at number one, instead the lottery gods turned the other cheek and the Jazz fell two spots down, but not all hope was lost. The Jazz GM was on the phone almost 24/7, making calls and talking deals left and right in hopes of moving up into the top 5 of the draft. And luck be have it, a deal was struck. In a 3 team deal with the Orlando Magic and Washington Wizards, the Jazz were able to acquire the 5th overall pick in the draft, sending the 8th overall pick, the 15th pick (acquired from Denver in the Malcom Brogdon trade at the deadline), and a second round pick from the Wizards, while also sending 20gms to the Wizards for said pick, letting the Jazz to also be able to keep their own Second rd pick, number 35. With this trade, the Jazz were able to hop back into the top 5, in a draft where the top 5 are all considered to be franchise players. With this trade, it also lets the Jazz address their biggest need, a wing. Sources say that ever since the deal was struck, the Jazz have been dwindling their choices down and are now between 3 players. Scottie Barnes, who played a Patrick williams type role at FSU and coming into the draft with comparisons to Draymond Green, Jonathan Kuminga, an Uber athletic Small Forward who took the GLeague route and was able to show off his raw skill and potential, and a surprise option of Jalen suggs, who is also being considered as the choice at 5 with John Wall's status currently in the air as some say he's unhappy with the organization after having heard his name come up in trade conversations. There's also rumors that the Jazz may not keep the pick, having let it be known around the league they are willing to move for a AS caliber player that fits the mold, a young wing with AS potential, or just a simple offer of anything that would blow them away. The pick could also be packaged with Markelle Fultz, as according to sources the brass is worried about his ability to come back to normal after tearing his ACL early in the season. One thing for sure, with only a week left till draft day, the Jazz will be on the phones 24/7 right down to the final buzzer.
