Sacramento Kings - Power Ranking

Week Rank Rating Team Record Comment
20 30 -38 Sac 0-12 Trust the process. Live the dream. Don't blame Jwalk.
19 30 -32 Sac 0-11 Sacramento fans are tired of the losing, but it appears as though help may be on the way soon in the form of a potential top 4 draft pick.
18 30 -21 Sac 1-10 The Kings can not wait for next season. It’s Cade Cunningham or bust, in Sacramento. With no young talent and no building blocks to look forward to, they are hoping Cade is the savior they need.
15 22 8 Sac 3-8 The Kings are getting back to their losing ways with 9 straight losses, but a 3-game winning streak in Week 13 has provided just enough of a boost to keep the Kings near top 20 in the last few weeks.
14 25 4 Sac 3-7 Sacramento had a 3 game win streak, but JWalk slowed it down while he could so they can maintain the worst record in the league. The future looks bright, but the team is not very good right now. As long as they can maintain the worst record they will have a Top 5 pick which is the range before there is a cutoff on quality of players.
13 25 10 Sac 4-7 Sacramento had a crazy week last week, winning doubling their win total to 6. The front office has given the coach directions to keep this from happening again, so the #1 odds are not lost. The team has a bright future, but this season does not matter, just their pick.
12 30 -24 Sac 1-10 This season is a big one for the Kings, not because of anything in season, but this draft will be huge for them. They have their own pick and will likely get the cornerstone of their franchise. The losing will pay off because the lowest they can fall is 5th. This draft there is a Top 5 everybody has so it is looking good for them.
11 30 -16 Sac 1-10 Good deal: RoCov for a first round? Maybe Indiana can drop few spots until 2023? Let’s wait. Meh deal: Al-Farouq Aminu for Prince, which is out of the season but still, is a deal that means anything. Aminu is the worst player in the league with 4 points per 30 minutes… OW. I think the target was Chicago’s second round pick.
10 30 -24 Sac 0-11 Sacramento continues to struggle, as expected, but they recently acquired promising 2nd year sharpshooter Dylan Windler and veteran 3&D extraordinaire Jae Crowder. A great move that improves the team in both the short and long term.
9 30 -15 Sac 1-10 The Kings are on the league's worst losing streak at the moment. Losers of 13 straight, Sacramento isn't too far off being officially eliminated from the playoffs.
8 29 -18 Sac 1-10 It may look like JWalk’s just spinning his tires in Sacramento, but it takes time to get out of all the wreckage that was left for him by the previous GM. The Kings have their draft pick this year, as they look to add their first legitmate core piece to the team this coming offseason. Finally, some excitement in Sactown!
7 28 -18 Sac 1-10 And now we're in the basement. Sacramento continues to weather the storm and look ahead to this juicy draft, nothing else really of note.
6 30 -25 Sac 0-10 This is of no surprise, even JWalk knew this is what to expect. The Kings do not have anybody averaging over 11 ppg, and are getting outrebounded by 11 and they are not winning the turnover battle either. Sacramento have their 1st round pick this year, and with their current position in the standings are a lock to get a top prospect in this upcoming draft.
5 29 -13 Sac 1-9 Sacramento is another rebuilding team who landed what seems to be a gem in the end of the 2nd round in the latest draft. Nico Mannion who is receiving regular minutes on the NBA warriors was an absolute steal that late in the draft, and should turn into one of GM JWalks more attractive assets. Unfortunately for him outside of his own picks there just isn't much on the roster in the form of win now or future assets. He's done a good job with the hand he was dealt, but without sugar coating things, well that hand was not exactly pretty upon arrival.
4 29 -19 Sac 1-9 Not much of a surprise with Sacramento. They do not have a player averaging over 12 ppg, and are stocking up on draft picks right now. The Kings have their own draft pick this year, so the losing is fine. The Kings did get their first win over the #30 Timberwolves though! The Kings are going the patient route and looking good for the future though.
3 30 -26 Sac 1-9 At one stage, someone unfairly suggested it might be a while before we see the Kings score over 60...which in part was due to watching a 90 point demolition by the 76ers. But they have been better than that game since, at least pushing teams and the veterans must have had a real hard chat in the lockroom about putting their best foot forward. Don't get me wrong, I think even JWalk would have thought he'd be close to this spot, if not right in this spot this year, which is all part of the rebuild process, but it has been brutal at times and we hope that from here on out we see more competitive games from some minor settings tweaks so that we don't have to witness that type of thing again and have to get excited about it and write things. On other notes, JWalk has done some masterful work flipping assets over and over and built up some worth and he's the newest member of the NLL admin team! Keep at it JWalk, we see what you're doing.
2 30 -30 Sac 0-7 When you look at a team's stats to determine where they're struggling, you'll usually see that a team might be a strong offensive team, but not have much defense. Or a strong defensive team, but not much offense. Then there's Sacramento. They are dead last in offense, averaging 74 points per game (the next lowest is Orlando at 82. Milwaukee is the highest at 124). And then they are also dead last in defense, allowing 119 (Denver is next to last at 114. Milwaukee is again in the top spot at 86). So when you're charting a path for the Kings to start their rebuild, should they focus on offense or defense? Yes.
1 30 -15 Sac 0-3 Fully expected, the Kings are in rebuild mode. They are not expected to do much other than be a bottom tier team, but this was going to be a full rebuild and JWalk knew what he was getting into, so let the chips fall.
