Dubs Eliminated, Hope Builds

Bam Adebayo Will Donate A Full Year's Rent To A Struggling Family In Miami | News Break

The Golden State Warriors have been eliminated in their second to last game of the season. Going into the year, many thought the Warriors would've been eliminated much sooner. The team made a push for a play-in spot over the last few weeks, going 7-7 over the last 14. That kind of mediocrity may not seem like much but when you're swimming near the bottom of the barrel, a few weeks of .500 play will have you climbing up the rankings quickly.

The season ended with a whimper rather than a bang. A 123-97 shellacking at the hands of the Charlotte Hornets, the result wasn't pretty but at least the result was obvious soon after the tip. A 19 point deficit after the first quarter extinguished the fire started by this latest run. Worst of all was the performance turned in by team leader Bam Adebayo. After torching Dallas just a few nights earlier to the tune of 43 points and 13 rebounds, Bam put up a lowly 4 points and 5 rebounds. The worst part about this was Bam took just four shots in his 25 minutes on the court, simply not good enough.

With the impending changes to free agency this summer, Golden State is looking ahead at what figures to be a busy offseason. The front office has been examining a few options in both the restricted and unrestricted market. It will end up costing more GM points to try and acquire an RFA this summer but there are some very enticing players on that front. The good thing about where Golden State sits now, the roster is in a good place and not many additions are needed.

Looking at the draft, the Warriors will be praying to the Gods of the lottery. They will need a few favorable bounces to move up in the lottery after this warm stretch to end the season caused their lottery odds to fall. Word has leaked out of Warriors camp that if the pick lands where expected, the Warriors will explore trading out of the lottery and adding future assets.

One thing of note that this reporter has heard spoken quietly in dark hallways around the Chase Center; Bam Adebayo is available for trade. The possibility of trading Bam seemed to have died down over the second half of the season but apparently those deals were just moved to the back burner. If things break the wrong way for Golden State, there could be a massive trade that takes place and resets the timeline for this franchise.
