Draft Plans rely on Cleveland

At the end of the trade deadline the Grizzlies made a very big last minute move. After doing everything they could to make things work with Karl Anthony Towns the team decided it was best to move on and try to get a sizable return for the star center. After numerous trades fell through because of Memphis big asking price finally a trade came across the table that caught the teams eye. They decided to trade KAT for star young star center Jaren Jackson Jr. The star big man was often injured this season but has been a mainstay in Memphis lineup since the trade. On top of JJJ the team acquired Cleveland's 2021 first round pick with a top 4 protection. Since that trade the scouting team has been all eyes on Cleveland. Dropping games recently Memphis's front office is worried that the pick may fall under the Cavaliers protection. With the strength in this draft the Grizzlies think their off season re tooling is dependent on acquiring this years pick. Ideally the team hopes the pick falls anywhere in the 5-8 range. Adding a player at the top of this years draft would be a tremendous lift to a team in need of more talent. The top of this years draft is loaded with talent. The team anticipates players like Cade Cunningham, Jalen Green, and Jalen Suggs to be off of the board. So far the team has scouted players they think are going to fall out of the top three. Don't be surprised to see the team try to put a package together to move up if they love a player enough. Kai Jones or Scottie Barnes sure would size up nice playing next to JJJ. Future looks bright in Memphis. This season has been deemed a success by front office members. With the team vying for the playoffs, ownership is content with the progress new GM Aaron has made.
