Roster - Washington Wizards

The Washington Wizards are still streaking, winners of four games this week, and a total of six games in a row, and seven of their last eight games! They arent far behind the Charlotte Hornets for the 8th spot in the playoffs, but its still an uphill battle for the Wizards. Next week they will face off against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Milwaukee Bucks, Orlando Magic, Houston Rockets, and Indiana Pacers. "Week 18 will be a tougher challenge than week 17. Every game in week 18 I feel we could lose, they are good teams no matter what their records say. We just have to play as a team and get the wins needed to keep us in the playoff race." said GM Darko. While the Wizards went on their six game winning streak, they ended up doing something they havent done since winning a championship, and that is win more than 30 games. Last year was their best year since winning it all, winning a total of thirty games. This year they have already won thirty-two games and have thirteen more games to go.

So what has been the difference during this winning streak. There really isnt an obvious answer, but maybe its the spread of talent between bench and the starters. The streak didnt start until Jeff Green was sent to the bench, and he plays an important role off the bench. "Green is a starting caliber player that comes off the bench and gives us an edge. He may not score big numbers every game, but he can be a big difference." said GM Darko. Looking at recent games, Green had twenty-three points against the Hawks, and twenty-one points against the Raptors. But in the games where he hasnt produced, guys like Jameer Nelson who scored seventeen points against the Hawks, step up. Playing as a team has always been GM Darkos philosophy. You rarely see individuals get awards for the Wizards, its a team effort for them, and it will have to be for them to continue to push for the playoffs. Its an exciting time in Washington lately, the fans are standing behind their team and hope they can make the hopes of the playoffs a reality.
