Heading all the way back to the 30th of January is when the Mavericks won a 6th straight game and were on a little bit of a role. Well, since that night against the Miami Heat, the Mavericks have struggled through a rough couple of months.

The Franchise were already looking to the future, stock piling assets to build a team they can be proud of once again. Then the Mavericks lost their GM to a health scare for a few weeks, and the team itself have gone 3-19 in their last 22 games. In their 19 losses, the team has had an average losing margin of 13, so it’s tough to even say that the team has been competitive.

“Although the losses are mounting up, the boys have shown a bit of fight.” Carlisle said. “It is a massive positive within the group that we are getting solid minutes into the guys who are really fighting for a spot for next season and beyond.”

It was well known that the Mavericks had been looking to the future, and there was no better year to do it than this season with the 2017 draft predicted as a great one for young future stars about to come through the NLL. “We spotted a problem early in the season. The team wasn’t meshing well and we drew up plan after plan on how to fix it.” Smokey said. “It was extremely hard to see the team that I had helped build be torn apart like it was, but it was the best option for the franchise moving forward into the next few years and beyond.”

The Mavericks currently sit 23-41, and with only 18 games for the Mavericks remaining, it looks like they will end the season with a franchise low in wins going under 40 for the first time in franshice history, besides the 2011/2012 seasons when a modified 66 game season happened due to the bargaining agreement.
