Starting A Child Of The Corn?

The changes everyone in the greater Orlando area were hoping for did not come to fruition last week as anticipated. The return of point guard Michael Carter-Williams did little to nothing for the team that was expecting to have a better week than in the most recent weeks.

The worse part of the week was that it was mostly against divisional rivals which hurts the team's aspirations for a playoff run this NLL season. "How adventurous can you be when you're tinkering with your team's line-up due to injury every week?", asked head coach Frank Vogel. "What we need is continuity and healthy bodies. Of course this is most likely the wish for every coach in this league."

News out of Orlando is that the Magic, whom have had issues with starting small forwards all season, are expecting to name rookie Malachi Richardson as starting small forward at least through the break or before the trade deadline (as he has been rumored to be on the move). Richardson brings an athleticism to the position that can be compared to other options in Shabbaz Muhammad and Justin Anderson, whom has started the last two weeks for the team.

More out of Orlando has news that teams have been calling L J Maverick's offices to ask of all-world power forward Kevin Love and his availability. "We have no intention of entertaining these calls at this time", stated the trade happy general manager. "But my phones are always open, as always. We have had some interesting offers, I must admit. But, we are very comfortable with the team we have as it stands today. The easy thing would be to say we have had troubles getting wins lately and some sort of trade may help, especially for a guy like Kevin. But, that's the easy cop-out. It's good for other clubs, not for us. We may suffer for not joining in that crazy dance, but that will be our story to tell."

The team has an uphill battle again this week with three road games and are on a three game losing streak.
