Rajon Rondo

It took GM Darko six weeks to make his first deal this season, and once he did, the deals did not stop. Lets take a look at them. The first deal was with the Miami Heat, and Darko did something uncharacteristic of himself, traded a long term deal for a rental. The Wizards sent Marcus Morris who was on a nice three year deal for less than five mil a season, along with Trey Burke, and Nick Young in return for Rajon Rondo, Nene, and Joe Ingles. Rondo was the key player for Darko, he was not happy with his starting point guard Trey Burke. Rondo is an upgrade over Burke, bringing better passing, better defense, more experience and leadership. This is a great fit for the Wizards as long as Rondo can remain active. Its still very early to rate Rondo, but so far in his two games he is averaging eight points, eight assists, four rebounds, and one steal a game for the Wizards, and best of all he is shooting 60% on five shots per game. With Melo and Gasol on the floor, Rondo wont have to shoot as much as he did in Miami and that has shown so far. Rondo was shooting the ball twelve time per game in Miami, that has cut down more than half in Washington.
Danny Green

In Darko's second big deal, he went after more defense once again. This time he would make a deal with the Dallas Mavericks. Darko was hesitant to trade away his 2017 first round pick, nightmares of his past deal involving Vince Carter during the 11/12 season weighed in on his mind. But again, GM Darko felt Danny Green would be a great fit for his team, so he ended up pulling the trigger after overcoming his fears. Danny Green was sent to the Wizards along with two second round picks for Boris Diaw and the Wizards 2017 first round pick. This deal allows Green to step into the starting lineup and replace Korver if they wish to have more defense, or they can stick with Korver if they want more offense. GM Darko said Green reminded him of Shane Battier, whom won a championship under Darkos reign. "He is a defensive guy who can shoot the spot up three. I feel like he is a Battier mold that can have success with guys like Gasol and Melo out on the floor with him." said Darko. The Wizards also acquired Christiano Felicio for Vince Carter to add more depth up front after moving Diaw. With guys like Rondo and Green coming to the team, only time will show if these were good moves or not.
