MAVERICKS NEWS

After a disappointing week on of the regular season, the Mavericks set out to be better in week two, something that shouldn’t have been too hard considering they went 1-3 in the first week. The team hit the practice courts with a fierce attitude ready to gain back the respect they may have lost form their fans.

The week kicked off with a thrilling win against the Phoenix Suns. With Horford, and Johnson back for the home team, nothing was going to come easy for the Mavericks in this one. Horford and Walker seemed to be a handful for the Mavericks, but the team were able to have 7 guys in double figures of scoring, and Jordan and Mirotic grabbed 17 and 12 rebounds respectively.

With confidence back up, the team travelled to Miami. Again the opposition gained some valuable players back to their line-up, and this time it was too much for the Mavericks to handle going down 93-100. Williams was solid off the bench, and Mirotic played his part for the Mavericks, but the team seemed to lack any fire power for most of the game.

The team arrived back home for game three of the week in a rematch of the week one GOTW against the Spurs. The Mavericks were right in this game until the last 4 minutes, where the Spurs went on a rampage blowing the margin out to 11. Again, Mirotic stepped up, but was eventually out muscled by the Brow. And Mudiay showed what he was capable of with 23 points.

The Final game of the week was another week one rematch against the Lakers. With another 2 losses in a row, the confidence seemed to be slowing going down-hill again. The team desperately needed a win or face sitting at 2-6 after two weeks of the season. Trailing by 11 at the half, the Mavericks stormed out in the third pouring in 38 points to level the game. The game went to OT and the Mavericks were able to rally getting home by 7 points. Young and Williams played their role off the bench, but it was all DeAndre Jordan having a great game with 24 points and 19 rebounds.
