Timberwolves Week 2 Preview

Week 1 Recap:

The boys did a great job winning every game this week.  Every player contributed, with 3 different players getting POTG honors; Paul George, Brook Lopez, Taj Gibson.  Even with Brook playing amazing, the best player still has been Paul George.  He had the highest +/- on the team at 14.5, along with a team high PER of 24.5.  His defense helped the T-Wolves have one of the best in the league, giving up only 41% from the field, and 32% from the 3-point line.  Given that the team plays a faster paced offense, this has led to some higher point games though.  We are very happy here and can't wait to see what we do in the upcoming weeks.

Week 2 Preview:

The injuries are already piling up with Jeremy Lin already out, and now Paul George goes down for what might be two weeks.  Luckily Trevor Ariza is a starting caliber SF in this league and he can step right in without a huge decrease in production.  Look for other players to pick up some of the scoring to make up for PG13's loss.  In light of injuries, the team picked up veteran Ron Artest (I refuse to call him anything else.)  His leadership and some minutes off the bench will hopefully keep the bench producing, this will be an issue though, as our bench has scored the 2nd lowest bench points in the league.  Maybe Ron will show us how to do it.  And now, the upcoming week.

Utah @ Min

Utah stands at only 1-3 right now, but the losses are to the Lakers, Bucks, and Kings, all top tier teams, so Utah should be a challenge still.  They lost their starting PF Randle, but have another young guy in WCS to step right in.  This team has a lot of talent and can beat any team in the league.  Look for them to exploit PG's absence and Wiggins to go off.  Prediction:  Jazz Win

Min @ SA

The Spurs were the only other Western Conference team to go undefeated last week.  This team is scary with Anthony Davis playing like an MVP.  The problem is that injuries are piling up for them too.  They only have 9 healthy players, and when you have to start Rashad Vaughn at SG, you have injury problems.  If both teams were healthy, this would be a great matchup, but with all the injuries, the T-Wolves have a good shot at taking out the Western Conference leaders.  Prediction:  T-Wolves Win

Min @ LAL

The reigning champs are scary still, only losing one overtime game to Detroit.  They are totally healthy now, getting George Hill back from injury.  They beat us in preseason, and without Paul George, that doesn't look to change.  Hopefully Bradley can hold Wade down a bit and make this a competitive game, but with the way our bench performs, there's noway we compete in this one.
Prediction:  Lakers Win

Sac @ Min

This game is a rematch of the week 1 win by the T-Wolves.  The Kings are relatively healthy, missing only a few bench pieces. The Kings have always been a tough matchup, and this won't change this week.  Klay Thompson is a beast, and he has height on Bradley, so he will likely win this matchup.  Whoever wins that SG matchup will win the game, but I think Klay is much better than Bradley.
Prediction:  Kings Win

Well if it goes like we are thinking, a 1-3 week is in store for us.  Hopefully this isn't great, but we won 2 more games last week than predicted, so the T-Wolves are already ahead.  We just need to weather the storm until Paul George and Linsanity get back.  Good Luck to all opponents this week, and let's hope all of us get healthier next week!
