Hornets in the early Lottery

Hornets at the NLL Draft!

Pick #2:

Chances they keep the pick - 95%

Indications from the Front Office suggest that the Hornets have very little interest in moving this pick. Given the way that the roster is taking shape, adding a player like Ingram or Simmons continues to solidify the main core of this team that has been built, not bought

Who do they take?

This pick in all seriousness is likely the easiest selection in the entire draft. The Hornets just sit back while Detroit exercises due diligence in working out which player best fits their organisation moving forward. The pick is expected to be Brandon Ingram or Ben Simmons. While the selection may be easy for Charlotte, the impact of the pick will have repercussions on the subsequent selections the Hornet's could be making on Draft Day. "We're pretty confident that we know who we're getting and will be wrapped if it plays out that way", said Charlotte GM Digeze. "We have tentative plans in place should it go the way we expect and if we need to use our additional lottery selections. When pressed for names, the GM calmly reminded everyone that it is against league rules to publicly reveal a selection before the commissioner reads out the name at the Draft.

Pick #3:

Chances they keep the Pick - 62%

The Hornet's have suggested to a couple of teams that they would be willing to package this pick. While reports are that they are open-minded about a trade, team insiders still indicate that there are multiple players available at this spot which would be perfect for a young developing team still creating it's identity.

Who do they take?

If Pick #2 is the easiest Pick in the draft then obviously Pick #3 isn't....the easiest Pick in the draft. The reason it isn't easy is because there are multiple quality candidates to select from. Do they take Dragan Bender? The Hornet's proved last season that they weren't afraid to role the dice on the International Mystery Man with tremendous potential when they selected Kristaps Porzingis. Will they double-up and roll again? Kris Dunn, on top of some star potential, has some elite defensive ability, a factor that GM Digeze always favors heavily. He would also likely be ready to take control of the team from Elfrid Payton from Day 1. Jamal Murray brings some outstanding scoring ability off screens. Does a team with solid defenders like Payton, Shumpert, Porzingis and Turner help mitigate some of the lateral deficiencies? Jaylen Brown is another player that has off-the-charts potential as a wing defender and adds in ridiculous athleticism. Is the criticism of his shooting overblown? Finally, Buddy Hield is simply lights out and is comfortable shooting all the way out to "Curry-Range". Elite shooters are always in high demand in the NLL and Hield has the ability to flat out get buckets! These are the sorts of discussions going on in the Hornet's War Room at the moment with new information being added to the mix every single day.
