Conley dethroned?...

Daaaamn Jordan! Back at it again...

Conley out. Love out. It's Clarkson time... And the Kings don't miss a beat. It was a sad story to start another week with arguably the two most impactful players this season for the Kings riding the pine. Down two All-Stars wasn't what the head office really planned on heading into the final stretch of the season. Just four games separate 3rd and 9th seed in the western conference. In a season that's seen unprecedented competition and rivalry between the jousting teams pushing for a play off spot. Defending champs lakers and the deep Mavericks have established themselves as the favourites while the rest fight it out game by game.

Clarkson has taken over the last 2 games dropping 25 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 6.5 apg, 1.5 spg and 1.5bpg. With splits of 45/25/86, he's getting to the line 8.5 times a game and led his team to a convincing win over the lottery bound clippers and eastern powerhouse Cleveland. No small fete indeed. Originally with Conley out for 3-4 weeks, Kings went into crisis mode wondering how they would even keep up offensively with such a hole left in the 2nd unit with Clarkson starting. Doubts were quickly extinguished with newly acquired veteran PG Raymond "glitch" Felton beasting off the bench. In just 15 minutes a game over the last 10 games for the Kings Felton is averaging 11.8 ppg and 1.8 apg, being incredibly efficient with splits of 56/60/91. Much improved in this Kings system compared to his time with the conference rivals lakers. Others worth mentioning being sharp shooter James Jones putting up just over 5 points a game off the bench, Tayshaun Prince coming in as the "glue guy" with the second unit providing 2/4/3/1 doing all the little things. Young big man Dwight Powell filling Loves big shoes bringing energy and rebounding as a double double threat shooting 53% from the field. After not seeing any action since week 7, and being mentioned as one of the most impactful rookie bigs this year Sasha Kaun has had his number called and has delivered. Coming in alongside Miles Plumlee as part of a double pronged twin tower attack the Kings have implemented over the last few weeks. It's all about rebounding and scoring easy points for the Kings now. Moving in the complete opposite direction compared to the start of the season, where it was all pace and perimeter scoring which caused continual  inconsistent performances.

Here's hoping for Conley to heal up and at least be available for plays offs, while Love is expected to be back next week (bar any set backs) after an extended rest period. But with Klay elevating his game over the last few weeks and Clarkson taking over, no one in the Kings corner is stressing to much about their position by end of season.
