PJ joins the Pacers

One last move by gm Sheed in this off season was bringing a true small forward. This Wednesday Indiana reached an agreement with San Antonio Spurs  gm Leeroy to make a simple swamp between Marvin Williams and PJ Tuckers.  Spurs were in need of backup big to cover Anthony Davis frequent injuries and made a series of announcements putting PJ Tucker on the block. Gm Sheed was interested on the possible trade but PJ was the ideal player they wanted at wing.

Marvin Williams wasn’t in Frank Vogel plans after signing Brandon Bass and he was too slow to play small forward. For weeks Sheed was shopping Marvin with zero success on what they really wanted in return. Minnesota and Detroit were on the conversation but both were unwilling to trade a reliable small forward. In the end gm Sheed returned to San Antonio and closed the deal to start the season with PJ Tucker.

Natural of Releigh North Carolina Tucker was drafted by the Sixers back in 2006 is known by his aggressive game, good rebounding and good jump shooting.  After start in Brooklyn last season PJ was traded to San Antonio and started few games there. In Indiana however he will have to fight for his minutes and try his best to receive more minutes. In the first week he will start off the bench backing up the scoring wing Tim Hardaway Jr and the veteran Vince Carter. He also can play inside as a power forward if Brandon Bass get injury sometime. He is an amazing rebounder for his size and his strength is another feat he could use against some power forwards.

In his last year five millions contract Tucker still have a team option. If he deserves it or not it is all on his ability to help Indiana
