Green is the color of money

JaMychal Green is a power forward for the Phoenix Suns that was undrafted out of the University of Alabama.  He’s 6’9” and 228 pounds.   He is more of a banger down low with solid post moves, but lacks a good mid range jumper.  His athleticism does help him to be productive, as he was considered one of the top prospects in the NBDL earlier last year.  He was picked up via free agency, but did not play an integral part in the team’s fortunes last season.  Green was a reserve player that was picked up on a 10 day contract, but did get a contract to complete the season.  Though he was available for about half the season, he only played in 11 games and averaged a miniscule 7.6 minutes per.  He only accounted for about 2.5 points per game and was not a force in any other area.

Green was a reserve bench player that was the 6th big man off the bench, only playing when injuries forced him to see time.  He is a free agent, but the team will possibly get a chance to re-sign him first.  JaMychal didn’t really show any flashes of brilliance, or even any great spark when he played, so it is unclear if the Suns would want to retain him going into next year.  The big concern for Phoenix is that they do not have any big men depth, so Green may be kept as a necessity, if for nothing else.

Green has been mentioned as the extra filler in a possible trade, if he were to re-sign with Phoenix, mostly due to his extremely affordable contract.  He will be making under 900K next season and should be a shoe in to want to return to Phoenix.  Even if Green isn’t traded, he still has value as a roster filler with an under one million dollar contract over the next 2 years, giving the Suns flexibility to use that extra cap space to find another difference maker for their future title runs.
