What's to come?

The draft has come and went, but the Suns were not participants in the annual festivities this year.  When asked about missing the chance to draft a rookie, GM Pennywise stated, “Hey, we would have loved to be handing an envelope to VT for him to read our pick, but we really got more with our draft pick than could be expected where we would have ended up drafting.  Monta Ellis will either be a Sign and Trade, or we will be very aggressive in retaining his services.  If Ellis is a Sign and Trade, we will turn our focus to Chandler Parsons.  Kyle O’Quinn will be a sign and trade, which is sad because he was the longest tenured Sun under me.  We fully expect that Kemba Walker will return, Omer Asik will return, James Ennis, JaMychael Green and Markel Brown will likely be retained via team option.  There are rumors that Steve Blake is being shopped, I will confirm that rumor to be true.  We have also reached a tentative agreement to bring back a former Sun.  We also have been in negotiations for a great 3 point shooting guard, but I can’t release the names of these individuals at this time, for fear it could negatively impact the ongoing negotiations.”

What????  A former Sun returns?  Is he someone we WANT to see return? Not for nothing, but I don’t think the fans would be happy to see Jonas Jerebko or Yi Jianlian back in the Purple and Orange.

How about free agency?  Pennywise mentioned a few returnees, but who are they targeting to fill out the roster?  If Ellis becomes a Sign and Trade, what could they get in return?  Kyle O’Quinn was always a Phoenix fan favorite, but will there be fair market value in the trade offers for him?

(Another beard to fear??)

As the rumors continue to swirl, Pennywise put more questions in our heads.  He acknowledged that he’s already had 3 GMs make offers for Kyle O’Quinn and at least 4 GM have asked about Ellis.  O’Quinn will be moved, but the Suns really are going to wait and see what happens with Ellis’ contract before they settle on a plan of action regarding Monta.

One thing we know for sure, the Suns GM is not afraid to make a deal.
