Three Point Shootout 2010

Intro

Welcome to the 2010 NLL three point shootout.

First introducing the competitors.

From the Washington Wizards, Chauncey Billups.

From the Minnesota Timberwolves, Daequan Cook.

From the Miami Heat, Stephen Curry.

Also from the Miami Heat, Channing Frye.

From the Oklahoma City Thunder, Danilo Gallinari.

And from the Philadelphia 76ers, Paul Pierce.

Recap

Chauncey Billups was the first to shoot, and despite a slow start gained some momentum towards the end to post a solid score of 18.

Up next was Daequan Cook, he too got off to a slow start, but hit all the shots on the last three racks, excluding each money ball to match Billups’ with 18.

Up next was Stephen Curry, the rookie nerves were obviously getting to him, struggling through each rack, although he did make every money ball to finish out of finals contention on 15.

Curry’s Miami teammate Channing Frye shot next, although you could hardly call it shooting, with Frye’s stroke nowhere near accurate or fast enough to even see him finish within the 60 seconds, he ended with a poor 11.

Up next was Danilo Gallinari, he started poorly and ended poorly, seemingly also nervous on the big stage, much more was expected from the Italian than the 12 he finished with.

Last but certainly not least was Paul Pierce, who after missing his first shot, hit the next 18 shots, only having the run cut short because of the time expiring. Pierce booked his way into the final with the fantastic score of 25.

With Pierce in the final, this left a 24 second tie breaker round involving Chauncey Billups and Daequan Cook.

In the tiebreaker, Daequan Cook would miss a crucial money ball as time expired putting Chauncey Billups into the final with a score of 6 to 4.

In the final, Billups would again shoot first, but by this time his shot was well and truly warmed up, Billups would miss just 2 shots on his way to an unbelievable score of 26.

Paul Pierce then stepped up with the enormous task of requiring 27 or more to win. Unfortunately his scoring background caught up to him, unable to match the pure stroke of Billups, Pierce would fall short with 18.

So with Chauncey Billups proving his nickname worthy, he used his pure stroke and excellent release to win the 2010 NLL three point shootout, with a winning score of 26. Congratulations Mr Big Shot.
