Week 16 Injury Watch

TEAM INJURIES
Atlanta Hawks Josh McRoberts (Foot), Justise Winslow (Shoulder), Malik Beasley (D-League), Gerald Henderson (Hip):   Atlanta really needs all hands on deck, so every injury hurts.  They traded for Dekker before the deadline.  He and Valentine will get their chance to shine.
Brooklyn Nets Kevin Love (Knee):  Brooklyn made their trade for KLove knowing full well that he would not be available for 4-6 weeks.  Wisely, Wiz had a backup plan for this, getting Plumlee in a deal as well.  The Nets weakness is their big men depth for now.
Boston Celtics Adreian Payne (Illness), Kyle Lowry (Wrist), Joel Anthony (CD), Beno Udrih (Ankle), Kevin Durant (Knee):  As Jmac tries to put the bottle down and stop drinking his pain away, there's the silver lining that is they should have both Lowry and KD back sometime during the playoffs.  Like Spud said in the NLL Podcast, no one wants to run into this team when they are fully healthy.  Don't expect a full freefall either. The team still can win games until their stars get back.
Charlotte Hornets Evan Turner (Hand), Jose Calderon (Waived in NBA):  Charlotte was already holding onto the 8th seed with their youth.  Once ET and Jose can join the fold, they should get that veteran leadership they've been lacking.  They got this far without them, don't see them being sorely missed yet.
Chicago Bulls Dragan Bender (Ankle), Garrett Temple (Hamstring), Chris McCullough (CD), Bruno Caboclo (CD), Damian Jones (CD):  Big list, but none of these guys are named Curry, Hield, or Dirk.  They have 10 able bodies, so this shouldn't be a big negative for the Bulls.
Cleveland Cavaliers Jarell Martin (CD), Luis Scola (Waived in NBA), Michael Carter-Williams (Knee):  The big loss right now is MCW, who was doing a fine job as the team's floor general.  Scola will likely latch on and be back next week or so.  MCW should only miss this week, but now the choice for PK is which rookie to start, Harrison or Delaney.  I believe he will start Harrison, but I think Delaney would be the better choice.
Dallas Mavericks Jerryd Bayless (Wrist), JR Smith (Thumb), Henry Ellenson (CD), Kay Felder (D-League):  All expected injuries so no one will be missed.  Even if they were, this seems to be a throw away season for the Mavs.  They are content to test out their youth and see who will make the roster next year.
Denver Nuggets Fully healthy squad makes Rootsey a happy GM.
Detroit Pistons Ben Simmons (Foot), Brandan Wright (Personal), Diamond Stone (Knee), Joe Johnson (Groin):  Simmons is the big loss, as it sounds like he's gonna be shelved until next year, much to Laddas' chagrin.  With Wright always being a health risk, Detroit was wise to go grab Bass in case of emergency.
Golden State Warriors Jose Barea (Calf), Demetrius Jackson (Illness):  Barea is a wiz when he plays, but GS has gone most of the year without him, so they should be fine this week.
Houston Rockets Daniel Ochefu (CD):  Relatively healthy week for the Rockets.  Ochefu was a 12th man on the bench.
Indiana Pacers Georges Niang (D-League), Anthony Morrow (CD), Darrun Hilliard (Back): As long as Blake Griffin isn't on this list, I think Sheed is happy.  None of these players move the needle enough to say the Pacers will have a worse week than their season has already shown.
LA Clippers Festus Ezeli (Knee), Joel Bolomboy (CD), Justin Hamilton (Illness), Rodney Hood (Knee):  Ezeli hasn't touched the court this year and management is so peeved by this, they were moving him on the cheap, but no one bit.  Hood is a starter, but the only thing his presence would do is hurt the Clips draft status.
LA Lakers Archie Goodwin (Waived in NBA), Michael Beasley (Knee), Josh Huestis (D-League):  Beasley hurts, as he was Greeny's 2k17 glitchboy, but I'm sure that Speights will fill in nicely.  It's just a shame to lose the 16 points per Mareese got off the bench.  Can Marv fill those shoes?
Memphis Grizzlies Chris Bosh (Blood Clots):  Been out all year.  Will he retire or won't he?  I'm sure Memphis fans are just tired of the waiting to find out.
Miami Heat Rudy Gay (Achilles), Mike Dunleavy (Ankle), Kyle Wiltjer (CD):  Miami's season is in shambles and their chance of a playoff spot left with Rudy's achilles.  But Proid never says die and he's built a new offense around HIS glitchboy, Frye.
Milwaukee Bucks Wade Baldwin IV (D-League), Zach LaVine (Knee):  You just can't replace the athleticism that Zach brought to the table.  Lou Will will help ease the pain, but I'm sure BadWolf can't wait to see LaVine back on the court too.
Minnesota Timberwolves Jabari Parker (Knee), Terrence Jones (Thumb), Wesley Matthews (Hip), Cheick Diallo (CD):  Minny is sitting pretty in 4th, with only Denver to worry about.  Parker was a known out, so was Jones.  Wes could be helpful and Diallo was a project grab.  T'wolves still live and die by PG.
New Orleans Pelicans Chinanu Onuaku (Cd):  Pretty healthy week for the Pels.  Perfect timing too as they are throwing their hat into the ring, trying to make a late playoff push.
New York Knicks Lance Stephenson (Ankle):  Luxury signing by the Knicks.  He's not really in the normal rotation, so this is a status quo week for them.
Oklahoma City Thunder Walter Tavares (Waived in NBA):  Healthy week for one of the top teams out West.  Maybe they can make a run at the top 2?
Orlando Magic Malachi Richardson (Hamstring), Jordan McRae (Waived in NBA), Tyler Zeller (Illness), Tim Quarterman (D-League), Ed Davis (Shoulder):  Ed Davis hurts, but the additions of Boogie, Danilo and Middleton should help ease the pain.  The bench is weak now tho, and in the midst of a playoff run is the worst time to lose good depth.
Philadelphia 76ers Isaiah Taylor (D-League):  Wasn't this guy like the 15th man on the Sixers depth chart.... move along, nothing to see here.
Phoenix Suns Omri Casspi (Calf), Omer Asik (Illness), Thomas Robinson (Illness), Joakim Noah (Knee):  3 bigs out will drastically hurt the Suns chances to jump back into the playoff mix.  Asik has been out for weeks, and TR was a late scratch.  When Rakeem Christmas is your back up C AND PF, you're in for a long week.

Portland Trail Blazers Brice Johnson (Back), Ramon Sessions (Knee), Miles Plumlee (Calf), Maurice Ndour (Ankle):  Nothing spectacular to note.  No major starter out and even if it was, the Blazers are in full tank anyway, right?
San Antonio Spurs Joel Embiid (Knee), Andrew Bogut (CD):  Both centers would start for most NLL teams, so losing either would be tough, but losing both really is painful.  Good thing they have the best record out west and probably wouldn't fall much with AD to help keep them afloat.
Sacramento Kings Jared Sullinger (Waived in NBA):  Depth big they traded for is out, so James Johnson and Nick Collison have to step up for Kings.
Toronto Raptors Tiago Splitter (Hamstring), Willy Hernangomez (Ankle):  Does Splitter ever dress?  Willy hurts, as he was playing great ball and also just got a nice rating boost.
Utah Jazz Pierre Jackson (Waived in NBA), Victor Oladipo (Back), Kenneth Faried (Back), Joseph Young (CD):  Oladipo and Faried are big contributors for Utah.  Sure they added Gasol, but Faried was the sparkplug for defense and rebounding.  Oladipo was a great combo guard that compliments Rose way better than Kilpatrick does.
Washington Wizards Jodie Meeks (Thumb), Marcus Thornton (Waived in NBA), Jameer Nelson (Illness):  None of these guys were making an impact for the Wiz.  Darko just wants to see all his new players gel.
