Yogi Gets His Own Burger

The Dallas Mavericks announced a new burger added to it's food menu: the Yogimania Burger. This  is a 1/3 lb. juicy grilled burger topped with sliced cheddar cheese, smokey red bacon, and a tasty fried egg. It is then drizzled with sweet tangy sriracha mayo sauce and served  on a buttery toasted white bun. All combined with a crispy side of waffle fries.

No other player on the Mavericks roster have a dedicated burger like Yogi but Dirk Nowitzki. The Mavs are definitely in love with Yogi and will most likely resign him this summer in free agency. This is a major relief for me, because Yogi is in the long term picture for my Houston Rockets team. He's is developing into the prototype off-ball pass-first point guard that fits my system. There are better guards in the NLL that fit my system, but I am happy with Yogi. At least for this year. He's the best three point shooter on the Dallas Mavericks team right now along with old Grandpa Dirk.

Waiters Opts for Season Ending Surgery

And now on to the bad news. I got news the other day that Dion Waiters will opt for season ending surgery. This is something that he should’ve done last year. He injured his ankle last March after driving down the lane and landing awkwardly on Andrew Wiggin's foot. He missed the final 13 games of the season,  signed a 4-year 52 million dollar contract, and showed up to training camp this season complaining about continued ankle discomfort.

This isn't a major blow for the Rockets because we had two starting shooting guards to begin with in Waiters and Tim Hardaway Jr. The original plan was to have Waiters start at SG and have THJ play the SF position. After the addition of Tobias Harris, THJ was going to move down to the 2nd unit. In a bench role, he would have been under utilized because I already had proficient 6th man scorers in Al Jefferson and Troy Daniels. With this injury, THJ moves into the starting SG slot.

My Team Composition

Now I'd like to get into how happy I am with how the team is shaping out post-IT. This was the dream composition I had envisioned for my team while IT was out:

This comp allows the center to have the paint all to himself while the rest of the team plays on the perimeter. The comp dissects defenses either with the dominant post up big in the paint or with the alpha SG from outside. Originally, I had Waiters as the alpha SG. Tim Hardaway Jr can be that guy, but not for another couple of roster updates.

Maxi Kleber is colored yellow because he doesn't fit the system yet. He is still a project in development. Kleber still needs time adjusting to the NBA three point line. He has been staying late after practice working on his shot with the legend Dirk Nowitzki and second year sensation Yogi Ferrell. They have a little game they play to see who can out shoot the other. Sometimes Harrison Barnes will join in on the fun. His defense in NLL still isn't up to snuff, but in reality his defensive versatility has Coach Carlisle preferring him in meaningful minutes.

Tim Frazier is colored in red because he doesn't fit the preferred prototype. Lately there were talks of trying to acquiring Patty Mills that would send Yogi down to the 2nd unit to fill this hole. And then there were also talks of acquiring DJ Augustin to fill the hole during the Kuzma trade. But “you got to give to get.” That is a saying a very wise dealer once told me. Filling this hole wasn't important enough for me to give. Even though Frazier doesn't completely fit the mold I had envisioned, he is still doing fine leading my 2nd unit.

The Next Move

The Houston Rockets own three 1st rounders for the upcoming draft. The current plan is to use these picks. But if a highly coveted young prospect under the age of 26 that can hit the three ball with at least more swag than JJ Reddick goes on the market, then a pick could possibly move.
