Trades Galore

I don't know what is more fun. Trying to win games with the team you have or trying to win games with the team you could have.

Since the introduction on Andre Roberson, the Nuggets have completed a further three trades, which has seen the team send out over half their squad for the promise of greener pastures.

The Nuggets GM Rootsey, has an itchy trigger finger when it comes to trades, and it can get him into trouble. Will these trades end in trouble?

GM Rootsey entered the season, happy with his team. He liked the age bracket, the mix of long term and cost of contracts for the value of the players and thought about how his team could fare in the playoffs before the season began. Then as the season started he began thinking, "Well the team is still good. I'll just ride out the storm of the first 5 weeks and we will see how we perform on the other side. And even if the team doesn't perform as expected, I've got a good young core who can just run it out again next year".

Then as trades started to hit the site, GM Rootsey wondered, "Maybe if I... Or if I...." All of a sudden he is offering Otto Porter around, seeing what he can get, as the Small Forward had never lived up to Rootsey's high expectations of him in the game. The trade came and went quickly. Regret set in, as it does with many trades. The regret will fade with time, assuming Jonathan Isaac performs as expected once his ankle conditioning is on track. Isaac is a Youth and Length play by Rootsey. Only time will tell.

"Don't let the door hit you on the way out"

Once the Porter trade was complete, the flood gates opened. First a trickle, with Chalmers finding his way to Philly. Then a crash! Those players that Rootsey had treasured with their good contracts for the quality of players were being shipped out for older legs, average contracts, and a pick (maybe lottery, maybe not).

Now offers are coming from everywhere, and Rootsey can't trade anyone because he has to wait 20 days and pay retrades. But can he settle down and try win with the team he has or will he keep trying to win with the team he could have?
