A Magical Start

The start of the 2017/2018 NLL season has come as a surprise to many around the league.  The talk is how two bottom-dwelling teams have started so well this young season.  The Southeast Division hols both teams under its ranks in the Miami Heat (3-1) and the Orlando Magic (5-0).

In the Magic Kingdom, the fans are ecstatic with the play of their completely new team.  They chant for the like of Jonas Valanciunas and Goran Dragic now.  And, while the magic may not last forever (no pun intended), the fans are getting a treat in watching the likes of rookies Lauri Markkanen and Tony Bradley alongside Derrick White and Sterling Brown (G-League) playing with Jeremy Lamb and Gorgui Dieng ---the new faces in town, as you can see.

Will it all last?  Who knows.  At this point, it mat be attributed to coach Vogel using a great playbook....or merely just sheer luck.  When asked if he is happy with the way his players are producing so well so early, the always non-vocal coach nodded.  "What you have to understand is that with these guys coming together so abruptly really has them thinking of the days at summer camp and getting to know new people," explained Vogel.  "You know, they're out there just being kids having fun.  FUN!  That's what it's all about, really."

In not-so-fun news, rumors have it that the Magic are still trying to move either swingmen in Wesley Matthews or Danny Green and are looking to receive youth with scoring ability and possible assets in return.  The Magic, as it is told, are not trying to blow up a great start by any means, but they have to think about the future immediately to have any chance at competing with the colossal teams in the NLL.  This, of course, is the goal of every team that hovers around the mark of the playoff brink.
