Player Review Andrew Harrison

Player Review Andrew Harrison

What a surprise packet this young fellow was this season, Andrew Harrison spent the previous year in the d-league before getting a chance in the big time. At the start of the season, Andrew was a rotation filler, giving him an opportunity at both SG and PG on limited minutes. By the end of the season, Harrison has stopping Lillard and the starting point guard with a big future.

Offense

Harrison was exactly what the Cavs needed as the point guard, a non-ball dominant player who put the ball in Lebrons hands more. A tall player for the position at 6'6, gives a huge advantage in vision and defending opposition players. Harrison kept his turnovers down, based on 16 minutes, he turned the ball over less than 1 time a game. Shooting at 44% from the field, only taking 4.5 shots a game, Harrison knew his role, putting the ball in shooters hands. Harrison averaged only 4 assists in 16 minutes, but based on a 36 minute average, it was 9, which is quality.

Rating: B+

Defence

Stats don’t really give any justice to Andrews’s ability at defending, only getting 1 steal every 2 games and a block in every 5 games. Based on his speed and length, he was able to cause all kinds of havoc for the opposition. As a rookie, Harrison excelled in this area and can only see him getting better.

Rating: A

A second round rookie with low expectations but a heap of heart. After trading Tony Parker who was one of the faces of the franchise, the point guard position was up for grabs. Andrew was exceptional, exactly what the Cavs needed. With time and hard work, I can only hope this young player keeps improving and takes ownership of the Point guard position for the future.

Final Grade: A
