Miami Heat - NLL Draft Day Review
With two picks (R.1 #24 & R.2 #56) in the 2017 NLL Draft
the Miami Heat they were looking to
secure two vital rookies to turn the favour of the franchise around.
With the draft stocked deep with talent – the decision
making process was vigorous for the administration. While probed about the
picks GM Breece responded by highlighting ‘the
draft class is deep and we can secure a diamond at pick 24 – give it some time
and this draft will be seen to offer great potential for the franchise’. He
later went on to highlight the potential talent at the backend of the draft.
‘Obviously we would have been pleased with an earlier
selection, but we are have scoped the draft class and the combines with a
fine-tooth comb to bolster our roster’ said GM Breece.

Kuzma is a ready-made NLL athlete primed for the big
stage and can slot right into the team.
With explosive speed
and break-out athleticism, the Miami Heat have selected a player that can make
an immediate impact. Kuzma is able to play the post-up role and provide as a
playmaking big-man, which added to his value within the NLL Draft. Kuzma
provided great effort and endeavor within a UTAH team that fell away with a
18-12 season. With this display he was still about contribute greatly, racking
up an average of 16.3 pts, 2.4 assists and 9 rebounds per game. Kuzma also has
the size ability to run the court as an effective SF to allow for team
rotations.

When it comes to Alec
Peters the numbers do not lie.
With an athletic
frame and NLL size, Peters could be one of the steals of the NLL Draft. With
analysts rating the 206cm PF at number 31 in their Top Draft Prospects. As a
Senior in the draft it may have affected his stock however there is no denying
his rare ability to produce. At VALPO, Peters produced a Senior season which
saw him rack up averages of 25.6 points and 11.3 rebounds per 40 minutes on a 60.4%
true shooting percentage. As the draft came closer to an end, the announcement came
through and took the 22 yr old by surprise.
