Hello T.J.

T.J. Warren’s stat line for the night was ridiculous for him.  He got 36 points on 27 shots from the field for the Timberwolves in game 2, and really saved their asses.  Basically, the only two people who showed up to play were Paul George and T.J.  There were some doubters after game 1 in which Glenn Robinson III made his case for starting at the Small Forward spot, but Warren heard all this and decided it’s time to shut them up!

To really understand why this game is so abnormal, let’s look at Warren’s season stats.  He averaged 6.6 points in 19 minutes per game for the Timberwolves.  Now he didn’t start but 12 of those games, so if we just look at his starts with Min and NO, he averaged 9.4 points on 47% shooting in 34 minutes.  Clearly he has the ability to score, he just isn’t getting a lot of looks.  He shot 15/27 from the field for 55%, which is above his season average, but not insane.  He just got more looks.  The key to this is actually Jeff Teague.  Teague doubled his assist average and got 14 assists, many of them to a wide open T.J. Warren who knocked em down.

The rest of the team actually played pretty poorly, if you look at the offensive and defensive efficiency numbers, Denver should have won.  This is skewed however by the big 3rd quarter runs they had.  The Wolves were up by as much as 17 points in this game, but Denver just kept coming back.  They are resilient, and moving Wall to the SG spot may have been a great move for them.  Two guys with 10+ assists is pretty incredible, considering most teams don’t even get one guy to do that.  Wall seemed to be everywhere on the floor, knocking down jumpers, leading the break, playing good defense.  Bradley couldn’t slow him down at all.

Going into game 3, we don’t think we will be changing too much, like I’ve told Laddas, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.  We know the series is going to change when we go to Denver, but it feels great being up 2-0 and defending our home court.
