Magical Pains

As expected, the Orlando Magic's season has for all accounts and purposes come to a screeching halt as their main scoring options and play-makers will have seen the injury bug for at minimum another four games.

This week sees the team lose newly acquired DeMarcus Cousins and Danilo Gallinari join the medical staff's evaluations along with Tony Parker, Ed Davis (out for season), Kyle Singler and Malachi Richardson to the dismay of general manager L J Maverick.

"These things happen," expressed L J Maverick. "Injuries are a part of the game. And, we happen to have most of the team injured right now. Yes, it comes at a very unfortunate time, but what can you do? We will just have to rely on who we have healthy and go from there. I am still so proud of this team; and, yes, I wish we could have seen more of the new guys meshing with the guys we already had in place for a longer period of time, but luck has a weird way of rearing its ugly head sometimes. I am confident in Ty Lawson, Khris Middleton and Danny Green to carry the load"

With the Magic, DeMarcus Cousins or Boogie Cousins was flourishing in the offense more so than even when he was with the Brooklyn Nets and his MVP campaign. With the Nets, he was averaging 29/11/3. With he Magic, he is averaging 34/16/3. But these numbers unfortunately did not produce the wins. In fact, since the trade, the Magic are still below .500 with Boogie in the lineup. These numbers, while very ostentatious, will not win over the hearts of the fans.

The Magic, as of today, stand five games out of the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with absolutely no glimmer of hope on the horizon. What the team does from this point forward will surely only come from the blood, sweat and tears the remaining healthy players can produce.
