Ibaka unlucky to not get an Allstar

Serge Ibaka has lifted his game to another level this year, he is currently one of the most important players in Cleveland’s line-up. 2k16 has made the Power Forward position very relevant. The problem is, there are 10 Power Forwards rated above Ibaka in the NLL. 11 of the top 23 players are power forwards, including the top 3.

The thing that sets Ibaka apart from all the players above him, is his 3 point shooting. Ibaka is a defensive machine, currently ranked 6^th in the NLL for Blocks per Game, but so are some of the other players, with Zinger, KD and Davis all averaging more.

Ibaka takes 4 3s every game, and is hitting an incredible 53%, this is ranked 2^nd in the NLL. He has made the 5^th most 3s for the season at 117, only 1 other Power forward has reached the triple figures this year and that’s Draymond Green.

Ibaka plays 31 minutes per game, I wonder if this is affecting his value? Most of the players above him average 34 minutes.

One of the main reasons for the Cavs streak, is the play of Ibaka. In February, he is averaging 20.2ppg, 9.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks, while shooting 64% from the Field and 60% from behind the arc.  

5 Player of the Game awards have gone Ibaka’s way during the streak, only being surpassed by Drummond in that stretch.

Ibaka is in for a big pay rise in the offseason, somewhere in the realms of a max contract.  A lot of GMs have suggested that Ibaka should be traded, and would have been the most likely player to move teams before the deadline. I wonder if they still have that view?

Ibaka is repaying the faith that has been shown in him. He asked for a bigger role in the offence and he has delivered. Was he unlucky to not get a vote? I believe so.
