sitting down with brown

I had the pleasure of sitting down with rising star and future all star Jaylen Brown. His season has started with a bang and he continues to always be present in the rookie of the week award races.

Brown has quickly established himself as the franchise player for the present and obviously the future.

Jaylen Brown’s statistics to start this 2016-17 season have been quite solid, with average of 20.8 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game, 3.2 assists per game and .7 steals per game. The only questionable thing with his stats is his field goal percentage, with a season average of .38%. But what can you expect with their current roster and him needing to take so many of the shots.

In the interview with Jaylen Brown, I asked him about that exact thing, “how he feels about his current field goal percentage?” Brown responded with “I am aware of where my field goal percentage is sitting at the moment, my coaches and I are constantly reviewing my games and going over my shot charts and shooting decisions. We both agree that at times I force some shots and that I have to let my shots come to me, I also need to know where my spots are and how to get to them within our sets. I have no doubt that continuously working on these things and continuing to learn the game that I can increase my percentages and in time become known for my excellent field goal.”

It is obvious that Brown has the support of the coaching staff and believes in himself, so i guess it is just a matter of time before he gets the percentages up.

Brown later commented on The Blazers season so far, “We have had some great triumphs and also some great disappointments. Obviously we are not considered the the season favourites by any stretch, but we as a team feel we can be competitive with any team and when we are all firing together we can beat any team, as we have demonstrated at times so far this season. The catch is we have to do it consistently and more effectively. I know we are all on the right track though.”

Before we left I had to comment on his recent marriage to his high school sweet heart. With a huge smile on his face he said “I am blessed, its all been a dream come true. Its was the perfect day for us and our 5 kids”

Strong words of positivity and confidence from the young Blazer, which is good to hear. If the rest of the team shares his mindset the future may be looking brighter than expected.
