Talk with the GM

It’s been a rocky road at the start of the season for the Cleveland Cavillers, I think its time we talk to their GM PK about the early start.

Welcome PK

<PK> Thank you, it’s a pleasure to be here

We are 2 weeks in, 8 games down, for a team that’s predicted to be in the upper eon in the standings, is a 4-4 record disappointing?

<PK> We have come out a bit slow but championships aren’t won in November. This team is primed for playoffs and the fans expect nothing less than success.

You have had a full list to choose from, yet the lineup keeps chopping and changing. Robinson starting, which didn’t last long, now Jennings starting as Parker is out with a leg injury. Are all the changes having an effect on the results?

<PK> The team has been playing with line-ups to give the right balance. Robinson had a chance based on his Rebounding, he can’t be out hustled when a loose ball is around. The 2nd unit looked much stronger with Ibaka in it as a main scoring option and defensive stalwart. We just couldn’t get Ibaka enough minutes to keep him and the team happy.

Jenning has been itching to get more minutes, he now gets his big opportunity. Jennings could be seen as the starting point guard of the future, with Parker looking to handover the baton at some stage.

Cavs had a rather big offseason, why the wholesale changes in the second unit?

<PK> Last year we noticed a huge lack of fire power off the bench. Any time the starters sat down, they would come back with a margin gone or needing to regain the lead. It was a goal to not only hold our own, but hopefully complement our starting 5. I am very happy with what we achieved, so far it’s been with mixed results until we find the right balance.

Do you think the team still needs to make changes? Are any trades in the works?

<PK> I think we are always evolving, and the competition at the top is never ending. The offseason additions complement the team but we may still see a change or 2 before we hit the business end of the season. Currently the team is working hard on chemistry, in the front office, we will continue to try to fill any holes that present themselves.

I would like to thank you for your time, do you have any parting words? New rivalries to create?

<PK> Think it best we get our swagger back first, get some results on the court.
