(20/10) x 2

Week two saw the Knicks drop their first game of the season in a high-scoring loss against the Hornets. But they were in good company there, as the Spurs and Bucks also dropped one.

They did managed to take the rematch against Charlotte in an equally close game and also beat the Raptors and the rising Heat, which a full strength went 3-1 for the week.

Against Toronto they led by 30 at some points, just to let the huge lead disappear in garbage time of the final quarter, ultimately winning only by single digits.

Against the Heat, they started out sizzling with yet another 30+ point quarter. With a lot of movement the Knicks also found the open man easily against the twin-tower front-court from Miami. They assisted on 20 out of their 22 first half buckets and finished the game with 39 assists.

For the week both Irving and Harden averaged a double-double in points and assists and Irving just barely has one for the season as well right now. Right now it looks like the two ball-dominant stars are finding ways to make it work.

Newcomer Sam Dekker saw his first action of the young season and proved that he loves to shoot. Especially from downtown. He went scoreless in his first outing, the loss to Charlotte, but made at least one triple in each of the other three games. He did get burned on defense by veterans multiple times. With a small boost to his shooting ratings he will stay in the rotation for now. Hopefully, with experience, he can quickly become a contributor.

Jeff Hornacek gave veteran John Henson the week off, not because he played poorly in week one, but because he wanted to see where Bobby Portis was at. It took a while for Bobby to get going, but against the Heat he was crucial stretching the floor, going 4-4 for nine points.

Going into week three, Henson is hopefully well rested, because with Millsap sitting out due to a hip injury, the gangly big man will see starter's minutes playing power forward next the Dwight Howard.

Speaking of Millsap. At 31 years, the forward is having his best season since 2011. He averages 17 and 9, with 1.5 steals. How important he is to the team is emphasized by the loss to Charlotte where he fouled out and everything broke down down the stretch. Currently he is only shooting 44%, but many of those missed jumpers end up in Dwights hands. We will see how the team fares without him this coming week.
