Roster - Washington Wizards

With all the NLL Draft Lottery excitement going on, GM Darko took the time to reflect on past lottery picks. Turns out that the Wizards pick, that was sent to Miami with Willie Cauley-Stein in return for Marc Gasol has landed the third pick in the draft this year. The Utah Jazz got very lucky to hit a top three pick with the odds they had, and we would like to congratulate them and wish them the best of luck on whoever they select. A few years ago GM Darko became impatient with his rebuild and sent a lottery pick to the 76ers for Vince Carter. Things didnt turn out well, and Philly ended up with the second overall pick, in which they took Jabari Parker. The next offseason we saw GM Darko once again trade youth and future for a veteran player, selecting Willie Cauley-Stein with the ninth pick in the draft, and including the 2016 first round pick to the Miami Heat for Marc Gasol. Now the 2016 draft pick that we just discussed landed the Utah Jazz the third pick in the draft. Thats two top three picks the Wizards have given up for a quick solution to fix the losing ways they have faced the last few years. GM Darko has made it known that he has struggled with past moves, and wonders what the team would look like and how they would perform if he just stuck to his plan. We will never know.

So leaving the past in the past, and going forward to fixing the things that GM Darko can fix, we wonder what is in the future for the Wizards. Right now the Wizards have Marc Gasol and Carmelo Anthony to build around. But are these guys going to stick with the team or may one or both be shopped during the offseason? For the first time in many offseasons, GM Darko will have major GM points to play around with. This could be interesting to see how he applies the GM points. Will he put all his chips in and try to resign Kevin Martin? He could also trying to buy a key player from another team looking to move a veteran piece. Or maybe try to buy some draft picks in the 2016 NLL Draft. Darko does have options, but we will have to see if there are any buyers for what GM Darko is selling. The Wizards are coming off of their best season since their championship run. Which puts GM Darko in a hot seat. If he cant improve the team again next season we might be seeing him being let go from the team. What does the future hold for the Wizards and GM Darko.
