McHale Out!

Well Houston has already had some upheaval during the first week of the NLL season.  After a rocky 0-2 start, the team has fired head coach Kevin McHale.  This has been a surprise for Rockets faithful as nobody expected this team to go undefeated without Brandon Jennings.  Losing a close 2 point game to the beastly Atlanta Hawks was a moral victory, but apparently the front office doesn't believe in moral victories.  The real problem was the 20 point loss to the winless Washington Wizards, who most expected the Rockets to be able to compete with.

Some of the blame goes to the scouting team of the Rockets.  The scout team gave the head coach and players one schedule, then they show up in Washington on the plane and everyone was really confused.  Ryan Kelly was overheard saying "I thought we were supposed to be in Minneapolis, why are we in DC?"  After much confusion, it was found out that the team had been given two schedules and the assistant coaches and scouts mixed it up.  This lead to some matchup problems for the first couple games and some wardrobe issues.  Most guys came with their fur coats, but when they got off the plane, it was a mild 52 F.  Carmelo brought the team together and they are trying to make it through this confusion.

McHale made some bad lineup decisions deciding to start Melo at the 3 instead of the 4.  The whole preseason he started as a stretch 4 and the team looked great.  When it came down to game time though, he couldn't pull the small ball trigger and it looked horrendous.  GM Spudspace said that if McHale can't conform to the times of todays NBA, then the Rockets can find someone who can.

As of right now, assistant head coach JB Bickerstaff, son of coaching legend Bernie Bickerstaff is leading the team.  He's a young coach with a lot of innovative ideas that the Rockets hope will fix this.  The problem is that Brandon Jennings is still out for likely another month, which is going to make it really hard for the Rockets to score in the 100s like they want.  Good luck to him and hopefully he can turn the ship around after 2 games!
