Rookie Ranking

Week 20 - Turner is Top Rookie

In the year's final Rookie Rankings, Blake Griffin takes the week's #1 position but Evan Turner captures the overall top spot!

THIS WEEK'S ROOKIE RANKING

1. Blake Griffin (Ind)
21.24 PER, 25.5 PPG, 11.3 RPG, 2.3 APG, 2.3 SPG, 1.0 BPG, .603 FG% in 4 games

2. Armon Johnson (Was)
PER, PPG, RPG, APG, SPG, BPG, FG% in 0 games

3. Evan Turner (NY)
12.82 PER, 5.8 PPG, 1.3 RPG, 1.3 APG, 0.3 SPG, 0.3 BPG, .435 FG% in 4 games

4. Eric Bledsoe (LAC)
PER, PPG, RPG, APG, SPG, BPG, FG% in 0 games

5. Tiago Splitter (Sac)
16.96 PER, 6.0 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 0.5 APG, 0.8 SPG, 0.0 BPG, .714 FG% in 4 games

1. Evan Turner, SF, NY

PER MPG PPG RPG APG SPG BPG FG% 3P% FT%
13.10 13.8 5.8 1.3 1.3 0.3 0.3 .435 .000 .750

Last Week: 1

The #2 overall pick edged Blake Griffin with an overall PER of 22.57, a miniscule .56 higher than Blake. Turner will now get a chance to showcase his talents in the playoffs as his Knicks play underdog to the Sixers.

2. Blake Griffin, PF, Ind

PER MPG PPG RPG APG SPG BPG FG% 3P% FT%
20.11 40.4 23.0 11.0 2.6 1.8 1.0 .581 .707

Last Week: 2

The Blake Show averaged more about 16mpg more than Turner for the lowly Pacers. He eventually became a stud player once the ratings caught up to his NBA play. Also of note - Griffin played in all 82 games.

3. John Wall, PG, Por

PER MPG PPG RPG APG SPG BPG FG% 3P% FT%
28.31 36.2 26.2 4.4 5.4 2.6 0.2 .506 .417 .923

Last Week: 3

John Wall brought the "Dougie" and his highflying athleticism to the NLL and is a big reason for Portland's playoff bid. Even though his shooting percentages need some help, Wall projects as a future superstar of the league.

4. Wesley Johnson, SF, SA

PER MPG PPG RPG APG SPG BPG FG% 3P% FT%
20.85 29.5 15.3 6.0 2.0 0.8 0.3 .524 .429 .786

Last Week: 4

Wes was second in scoring among rookie's with nearly 18ppg...someone had to score for Houston though! Without him, the Rockets would surely be looking at a single-digit win season.

5. Xavier Henry, SF, Mil

PER MPG PPG RPG APG SPG BPG FG% 3P% FT%
17.27 12.3 5.5 1.3 0.7 0.3 0.3 .517 .750

Last Week: 5

Henry had a polished skill set coming out of Kansas and has had a smooth transition into the NLL...that is, when he plays. Xavier managed to appear in only 22 games. Fortunately, this was for the meaningless Warriors.

6. Lance Stephenson, PG, NY

PER MPG PPG RPG APG SPG BPG FG% 3P% FT%

Last Week: 6

Dunadan would have loved to see Stephenson in more than 9 games. When he was healthy enough to make it on the court, he produced pretty well. All signs point to Lance watching the playoffs at the end of NY's bench.

7. Landry Fields, SG, Phi

PER MPG PPG RPG APG SPG BPG FG% 3P% FT%
12.39 33.3 9.5 4.5 1.5 1.8 0.3 .533 .375 .750

Last Week: 8

Young and reliable, Landry played in all 82 for the Nets. While he no parts of his game really stand out, he's a hustle guy who isn't afraid to get dirty and play defense. All good teams need a Landry Fields.

8. Paul George, SF, Sac

PER MPG PPG RPG APG SPG BPG FG% 3P% FT%
14.45 34.3 13.0 5.3 2.8 0.8 0.0 .421 .429 .933

Last Week: 9

Paul George was a hot prospect around draft time and made it on a lot of lottery team's big boards. Sacramento was lucky to get him and if they're smart, they'll hold onto him and see if turns into something great.

9. Willie Warren, SG, FA

PER MPG PPG RPG APG SPG BPG FG% 3P% FT%

Last Week: 7

As a member of the Cleveland Lebrons, Warren isn't asked to do much besides pass and set picks for the "King". Lebron keeps a tight leash on his minions, so it's a bit of a surprise that Warren averaged 12ppg in his 42 games.

10. DeMarcus Cousins, C, Mil

PER MPG PPG RPG APG SPG BPG FG% 3P% FT%
15.10 35.0 13.7 9.8 2.0 1.0 0.0 .554 .769

Last Week: 10

D-Cuz will be a vital part of Milwaukee's playoff aspirations. He's been stellar in all 82 games and projects as a stud in the seasons to come. It's surprising he's only at #10 here though and behind guys like Stephenson and Henry.

not sure about that, he's at 38/21 %, volume scorer with some rebounds and assists. i guess PER doesn't really respect shooting percentages

Turner's skills defintely translated well to NLL ratings. I'm still not sold on him as an NBA player though.
