1) Ricky Rubio
Why you should sign him: He’s a stat point guard. He’s locked
in for a long time on an extended deal. Why wouldn’t you?
Why you shouldn’t: He seems to get hurt a lot. Oh, and….
Can You Get Him?: He’s restricted. And ORL has a deal to trade him to OKC and
between the two of them they will stop your attempt to snatch Rubio away. Don’t
bother.
2) Corey Joseph
Why you should sign him: Point guards have suddenly become a
hot commodity in our league and Joseph is one of the better ones out there. He has
pretty good shooting ratings and pass rating. He could definitely start if you’re
in a pinch.
Why you shouldn’t: His salary is pretty steep for a guy
who is more of back-up. You could probably spend that $7 million on a better
player.
Can You Get Him?: Maybe. He’s restricted and the Nets
hold his rights. But they also have two restricted players out there and if you
place 35 points on each of them, GM Wizkid may have to give his decision a
long, hard think. So do it, if you want to miss with Wizkid, but you might get
burned.
3) Toney Douglas
Why you should sign him: I am surprised no one grabbed him
during Wave 1. He is a decent PG and has a great, cheap salary.
Why you shouldn’t: His ratings aren’t too awesome. Not
sure if I would want a guy with a 61 pass handling the ball for me. He was also
signed last minute in the NBA, which means he could be a candidate for waiving.
Can You Get Him?: Yeah, but you should have done it
last week. Toney now has three bids on him. GM points will help.
4) Ian Clark
Why you should sign him: He is the Cinderella story of the new
NBA season. A fringe player who no one thought would make a team stuck with
Warriors and is seeing a little time each night. And he’s doing pretty with
those few minutes!
Why you shouldn’t: He is one of the lowest rated guys in
the game. But hey, if the Sixers could dump 20 points on T.J. McConnell, maybe
he is worth it too?
Can You Get Him?: Yes! He has one bid only, so you got
a 50/50 shot at him.
5) Marcelo Huertas
Why you should sign him: The Brazilian caught on with the
Lakers and is seeing a few minutes here and there off the bench. He doesn’t
have ratings yet, but that still makes him better than the rest of the point
guard options out there right now.
Why you shouldn’t: He is shooting a measly 31% in the
NBA right now. He’s also a 32-year-old rookie. But if Pablo Prigioni can do it,
so can Huertas!
Can You Get Him?: Yeah, he only have one bid right now.
