NLL Insider - Meet the Western All-Star Reserves!

by sheed36, updated on Thursday, February 26 2015, 12:46 am EST

This is 2015's western allstar reserves, chosen by LA's gm greenmig. 4 guards and 3 forwards will complete the All Star West. The West team will play small off the bench with 6'9 Josh Smith and Kenneth Faried 6'8 as their biggest players on the floor. This team is even smaller when Wesley Matthews is their third forward with only  6’5.

Before we reveal our bench players we want to present some honored mentions or snubbed players for this Western All Star team.

Chris Paul (Min) : Leaving a winning team to a unstable losing Minnesota is though.

Kevin Love (Sac) : Coach greenmig prefer Bledsoe assists than Sacramento Kings best player

Joe Johnson (Por): 5th  scorer in the league, but it doesn’t help when you play alone

Mike Conley  (SAC)

After return to the team who drafted him and where he was award as the rookie of the year in 2008, the Kings’ floor general is back to Sacramento to make his appearance on the All Star Game. Mike leads the team in points per game followed by the other all star Klay Thompson, with 20 points per game. Conley leads his team in assists, obviously, and he is the 4th in league in this category. On defense end Conley is a pick pocket magician with almost 2 steals per game. Mike is also one of the best in the league on getting inside with his crossover ability. At least a half of his points are from inside the paint!  And when he is not finishing with a layup he is passing outside to the next participant

Klay Thompson (SAC)

Spash! Klay Thompson is making his debut as a all star participant this weekend. We say debut because we know this kid has a bright future in the league. His amazing shooting ability is the best key of this NLL, Klay can shoot from anywhere, even from the corner where he has a amazing touch. Second in his team in points per game Klay Thompson leads the team in 3s with more the 100 on his statistics. Klay is a tall guard and always take advantage to shoot over the contester.

Josh Smith (PHO)

Josh Smith the taller player in this allstar bench. Josh a quality rebounder and a amazing defender and the Western All Star might not miss a real center on the floor. With almost 30 years  Smith is still on his prime, playing his best year with the Suns improving 2 points per game. 19 points per game is his best performance on this category, however on Smith is descending on his blocking ability matching his worst year with 0,7 as a Sixer. Not the same player we saw few years back blocking almost 3 blocks per game.

Wesley Mathews (SA)

Another newcomer? I can’t confirm, but this one was well deserved. 21 points, amazing 3 point percentage. Mathews is one of the best shooters of the game and a great corner specialist. Mathews is playing as Small Forward in San Antonio the entire year but everybody knows he is more Shooting Guard than a Small Forward. This isn’t his best season, last year he was a little better though. Anyway, Matthews is a danger from outside and alongside Klay Thompson will keep Eastern All Star busy in this All Star Game edition.

John Wall (Den)

The best player off the bench!!! Why not a starter? Big snub by NLL fans, you read gms votes, by choosing Monta Ellis over Wall? John Wall is amazing this season,  25 points per game, and one point shy his last year, but he is playing 33 minutes instead the 37 of last year. His field goal percentage jumped from 42 percent to almost 50 percent. Another good news is that his outside game really improved hitting in this year more 3s than his entire 4 previous seasons together. On defensive end Wall is the third in NLL in steals per game. But everything is not perfect for John Wall. His assists came down from 10 assists per game to 6!!  Mostly because John Wall lack of quality in Denver’s squad. Due this same problem  John Wall turnovers also came up. John Wall is the second in this infamous stats pretty much because his overwhelming ball dribbling.

Eric Bledsoe (NO)

The league’s assist leader Eric Bledsoe is one of the quickest players in the league. New Orleans basic strategy is pretty much give Eric Bledsoe the ball to attack the basket then gives the ball to wide open shooters teammates. This is giving him this 9 assists per game factor why he was chosen a all star reserve this year. Also like John Wall Bledsoe explosiveness gives him more chances to turnover the ball. Eric Bledsoe is also known as a great defender, not only on steals but on pound his player every time he tries to pass him. His aggressive game gives him the infamous third place in the league fouls per game.

Kenneth Faried (Uta)

Kenneth Faried is not all about his hair style. Kenneth is all about rebounds. Kenneth Faried is the best rebounder in this NLL ALL Star Western team. With 11 rebounds per game  Kenneth is the 4th in the league and 6th in offensive rebounds per game. Another big weapon for the Jazz, right now more than needed with Rose out for them to make the so wanted playoffs in the West. Kenneth is also one of the best in the league in second chance points with 3,6 per game. Faried is a great hustle player. He is also going to bring his slam dunk ability. Fans will definitely be crazy with his poster dunks and putbacks
