Game 1 has come and gone for the Nets and Knicks and it didn't disappoint. Coming down to the final minute of play when the scores were separated by on a basket. With the Knicks slightly ahead, Harden took a shot which missed, and the Nets ran the ball down the court quickly for a DeRozan basket from a Bledsoe assist to tie the game up with 25 seconds to go. The Knicks had possession and the ability to retain their home court advantage with the final shot. The Kyrie to Harden connection linked up and sunk a deuce with 3 seconds left. The Nets ran down and a Bledsoe attempt later the game was done.

The game belonged to Kyrie Irving, not only assisting on the final basket, but amassed 17 assists, with only 1 turnover, along with a game high 33 points on 14/24 shooting. He was ably assisted by Harden of course with 24 points and 8 assists.

For the Nets, Bledsoe who scored the game tying bucket had a horrible night otherwise, shooting 2/13 for 7 points. Fortunately Love (20 points) DeRozan (20 points) and Dragic (24 points) picked up the scoring slack.

As the scoreline indicates, there wasn't much in the game between the two teams. The rebounding differential slightly favoured the Nets 51-46, but every other line was a negligible difference. One interesting stat is the bench scoring. While 40-23 to the Nets may not strike anyone for being a strange difference, the 17 points difference was completed in 8 less minutes of court time. The bench efficiency from the Nets wasn't expected, after the strength of the Knicks bench was highlighted in the series preview.

So far neither team looks to be making any adjustments to their teams to see out the second game of the series, so will game 2 be a repeat of the first, or will Bledsoe make some shots?
